12 Strange Historical Mysteries That Remain Unanswered

History is full of stories that still do not have clean answers. Some records were lost, some were never written down in the first place, and others were shaped by the people who had the power to tell the story. Even when firsthand sources do exist, they are not always neutral. A witness, ruler, soldier, or chronicler may have had their own reason for leaving out details, exaggerating events, or framing the truth a certain way.

That is what makes historical mysteries so fascinating. The farther back an event occurred, the harder it becomes to separate fact from legend, rumor, bias, and later retellings. In some cases, experts have evidence but not enough to reach a firm conclusion. In others, there are only fragments, clues, and theories that lead in different directions.

At History Computer, we are looking at 12 historical mysteries that continue to puzzle experts. Some involve missing people, lost civilizations, unexplained events, or unanswered questions that have survived for centuries. None of them have a simple solution, which is exactly why they still capture our attention today.
