Inside Operation Epic Fury: The Warplanes and Weapons Used in the Mission

Modern air operations rely on close coordination between many different aircraft, each performing a specialized role. Stealth fighters may enter contested airspace first, electronic warfare aircraft can disrupt enemy radar and communications, and strike aircraft deliver precision weapons on key targets. Other support aircraft provide intelligence, command and control, and aerial refueling to keep the entire mission running smoothly. Operation Epic Fury brought all of these elements together in a carefully coordinated strike package designed to maximize effectiveness.

For this slideshow, History Computer reviewed a range of historical and military sources to identify the aircraft that helped make Operation Epic Fury possible. For each aircraft, we included key details such as its manufacturer, introduction date, type, top speed, and the role it played in the mission. The aircraft in this list are presented in alphabetical order.
