Given that the United States was founded in part on the individual's right to own firearms, it is no surprise that the country is home to many gun manufacturers. At the time of its founding, America was immediately involved in war. With the British bearing down on the East Coast, the gun industry had to quickly ramp up production to provide the Continental Army with muskets. The rest, as they say, is history.
