Firearms are big business in the United States, with millions sold every year. With makes and models covering all sorts of needs, it doesn't come as a surprise that some models are more popular than others. Today, we're looking at America's favorite firearms.

Not all firearms are built equally when it comes to defensive needs. You wouldn't use a .22 to fend off a home invader. Some weapons are built solely for sporting purposes, and there is nothing wrong with that.

In a pinch sure, but you'll find results vary wildly depending on the caliber. A .22 would make a poor choice for taking deer. However, you might find something like a .308 is too much for taking out varmints in rural areas.
