Albert Ludlum was an engineer, inventor, and business owner who successfully submitted multiple patents for his work in the mining business in the early 1900s.
Ludlum is best known for his organizing work behind seven large dredging projects around the United States and his inventions of the Ludlum water-tube boiler and numerous other mechanical devices used for gold dredging and prospecting.
While many of his notable patents in the dredging and mining business would come later in his life, it was in 1887 that Ludlum filed for his Adding and Writing Machine patent.
