In the next 3 subsections is traced the slow and sure development of the mechanical calculating devices in the 18th century, the transformation of the craft and hobby of making calculating devices into an industry in the 19th century, the flourishing and the gradually decreasing of the importance of these machines in the age of electronics—20th century
