Earlier this month, Cadillac decided to release some more details surrounding its upcoming Escalade IQ EV. The EV market as a whole has been heating up, but there is one niche that is left sorely unaddressed.
Third-row luxury SUVs are in surprisingly slim quantity in the EV space, despite being so popular with more conventional fuel sources. The Cadillac IQ EV is looking to be every bit as luxurious as its gasoline-powered counterpart, with some additional features to make it rather exciting.
So, with new details in hand, it’s time to take a closer look at the Escalade IQ EV and what users can expect when it launches late next year.
2025 Escalade IQ EV: Specs
It is important to note that the IQ EV isn’t a retrofitting of an electrical drivetrain on a former production chassis. The latest Escalade is a purpose-built EV, built from the ground up to exude luxury while also taking advantage of advances in materials.
The Escalade IQ EV has a massive battery, measuring 200-kilowatt hours. This is likely the same sort of battery pack used by the GMC Hummer EV, which should be plenty to power such a massive vehicle. Overall dimensions haven’t been given by GMC, but it looks like a huge and heavy vehicle overall.
The Escalade IQ EV has three rows of total seating, with executive seating being the norm when looking at the various trims available for the vehicle.
Trims and Features
Full details surrounding the different trim levels of Cadillac’s latest EV aren’t fully known. GMC did showcase some different configurations of the vehicle, which you can view on their official website. However, these aren’t stated to be trim levels.

2025 Escalade IQ EV: Range and Performance
EVs live and die by the effective range they can achieve off a single charge. The good news is GMC seems to have understood the assignment and despite the overall size of the latest Cadillac EV, there is an impressively large battery pack to go with it.
GMC claims the battery itself is capable of 450 miles of operational range on a single charge. However, without EPA testing and actual road testing from critics, it’ll be difficult to determine if this is a factual number.
The same 200 kWh battery is potentially present in the newer Hummer EV released by GMC, which has a claimed range of 381 miles.
Recharging seems to be effective, with 100 miles of range achieved in ten minutes at public charging utilities. It will have to be a DCFC charging station to really take advantage of this.
Overall performance seems to be quite excellent for the latest Cadillac EV. You can expect up to 750 horsepower, with an additional 785 lb-ft of torque when engaging Velocity Max.
The drivetrain is rear-wheel drive, which should aid with acceleration and handling. GMC’s latest EV also packs three motors into the vehicle, which, given the massive size, does make sense.
Acceleration is phenomenal for a vehicle this size. It goes from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds with Velocity Max engaged. The vehicle also has dampeners and an air suspension to aid in how smooth the ride feels while driving.
The Cadillac Escalade IQ EV is built with luxury and comfort in mind. That said, it also seems to offer up compelling performance to bolster the whole package.
2025 Escalade IQ EV: Additional Features
The latest Cadillac EV comes with a rather plush infotainment system. The entire instrument panel is handled by a massive 55-inch display that stretches from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side.
This massive display serves multiple functions, providing relevant information like the current speed, range, and outside temperature. Cadillac is using Android as the primary operating system for the vehicle itself.
Also included are a pair of displays mounted directly behind the driver’s and front passenger’s seating. These serve as entertainment for any kids or passengers seated in the rear. Rear passengers also get independent climate control and other creature comforts with their own controls.
Seating and Cargo Capacity
Cadillac’s latest EV comes in a pair of configurations when considering seating. You can order the standard seating, which comes with three rows of seats. This functions like your typical larger SUV, with a good amount of room for your kids or other passengers.
There is a luxury option, however, which foregoes the third row of seats for a pair of captain’s chairs in the second row. This option offers up a lot more room to your rear passengers, but you’re only going to be seating four individuals in total.
The standard seating arrangement allows for seven passengers, which isn’t super common with current production EVs.
The cargo capacity on the Escalade IQ EV is substantial. You get a front trunk with up to 12 cubic feet of storage, which stacks up quite favorably to the Silverado EV from Chevy. The total cargo capacity with the seating folded is well over 100 cubic feet.
2025 Escalade IQ EV: Safety Features
While GMC and Cadillac have been rather forward-thinking in terms of the safety features allotted to newer production vehicles, the Escalade IQ EV seems to be something else.
The Escalade EV comes with a massive amount of safety features and driver-assistive technology. You can expect blind zone steering assists for starters. You have a fully detailed heads-up display on the main instrument panel, which also allows for thermal imaging during low-light conditions.
Automated emergency braking comes standard with the vehicle, which pairs well with the front and rear pedestrian alert systems. You also get access to lane-keep assists, which are becoming more standard across the board with EVs.
This topped off with GMC’s Super Cruise, a SAE Level 3 autonomous driving mode for the highway. This isn’t a total replacement for driver attention and care, but makes for a great assist when on long-haul trips. The Cadillac IQ EV also features adaptive cruise control.
Cadillac’s latest EV looks to be packed with quite a bit of high-tech safety features to protect you and your family while on the road.
The Escalade IQ EV looks to be the luxury SUV to beat in the EV space, but potential users are going to be waiting a little while.
Production is slated to start throughout 2024, with the vehicle becoming available to consumers starting in late 2024. As such, you’ve got a bit of a wait on your hands if you’re after a luxury SUV of this caliber.
It could be worth the wait, as it stands. You’re getting quite a few features that aren’t seen from the other luxury EV brands, like the dampeners and air-driven suspension.
So, keep your eyes peeled for first impressions on the Cadillac Escalade IQ EV; it could very well topple the likes of Rivian and Mercedes-Benz in the luxury SUV space.
