When looking at the Logitech G920, it may seem like the list of features is too good to be true. Manufacturers obviously point out all the great things about their products, so it’s understandable to research the bad. Although the Logitech G920 is a great wheel, there are a number of reasons that you may want to avoid it.

For instance, buying a racing wheel is not only an expensive investment but also one that requires ample space. Of course, there are other reasons that you should avoid the G920, including the fact that it isn’t the best racing wheel.
You Don’t Own an Xbox
The Logitech G920 is designed specifically for Xbox consoles. You may have noticed this by taking a look at the front of the racing wheel. On the face of the wheel, there is an Xbox logo and all of the buttons found on an Xbox controller. Obviously, this makes controlling games very simple because you don’t need to pick up an Xbox controller while playing.
However, it is also a reminder of the racing wheel’s limited compatibility. More specifically, the G920 only works with Xbox One and series consoles. Unfortunately, it does not officially support the Xbox 360 or PlayStation consoles. On the upside, it does support PCs, giving it a fair bit of added usability for those who like consoles and computers.
If you do have a PlayStation, then don’t panic; Logitech makes a wheel specifically for you. The Logitech G29 is nearly identical to the G920 but supports PlayStation consoles, including the PS3, PS4, and PS5. Unfortunately, Logitech does not make a wheel that supports both PlayStation and Xbox consoles. But nearly every other racing wheel is the same, and you will need to choose between Xbox and PlayStation.

You Want a Realistic Sim Racing Experience
The Logitech G920 is often reviewed as one of the best starter racing wheels. But even many racing enthusiasts continue using the wheel because it is such a great value. However, you should keep in mind that this is essentially a beginner wheel. It will not deliver a high-end racing experience. With that in mind, most gamers will thoroughly enjoy using it.
Most notably, the G920 includes force feedback and options for manual shifting. These two features are often not featured on cheaper wheels. While the G920 is a low-priced option, there are numerous wheels beneath it, but they resemble toys rather than a high-quality controller. The force feedback provides an important and realistic simulation of the steering wheel in a real car.
The wheel makes you feel like you’re driving a car because it can push back. Additionally, the tension created is much better than a free-spinning wheel with a simple spring. As mentioned, the clutch pedal is also a nice touch, as are the paddle shifters. Plus, you can always upgrade to the Logitech stick shifter, which is a nice addition.
However, all those features are still not enough to provide the experience you can get with a better racing wheel. A wheel like the ones from Fanatec offers much more realism because they are designed after actual car steering wheels. The servo motor is also much more powerful. There are also minor details, like a better feel in the pedals, that makes more expensive wheels a better choice for realistic sim racing.

Space Is Limited
Another reason you may want to skip purchasing Logitech G920 is that you don’t have space. Racing wheels take up a lot of room, and the G920 is no exception. Not only do you have the racing wheel itself, but there is a fairly large box attached to it that houses the motor and sensors. Additionally, the pedal assembly is also quite large.
All this means using it will take up a significant amount of room. But even more problematic is that most people don’t use their racing wheels all the time. Although many people do have permanent setups, it is often impractical. However, you should consider a basic steering and pedal mount which is a much better option than trying to melt the steering wheel to a table and have the pedals sliding around.
However, even with a folding mount or strapping the wheel to a table, you still need some storage space. The bulkiness of the G920 means that it will take up significant closet space if you decide to go that route. All that to say, if space is at a premium, then you probably should reconsider the G920 and look into a smaller racing wheel.
Price
The Logitech G920 is a value-priced wheel, but it is still relatively expensive. With an average retail price of $300, it costs as much as an Xbox Series S console. Meaning the wheel is still a sizable investment for most gamers. Therefore, you may want to consider a cheaper option or even forgo a racing wheel altogether.
The problem with going cheaper is that the wheels tend to be low-quality. However, if you just want an arcade racing experience for games like Hot Wheels Unleashed and Cruisin’ Blast, then a low-priced wheel like the Thrustmaster Ferarri may be a perfect choice. With that said, most gamers considering the G920 want a fairly realistic driving experience.
The good thing about the G920 is that it holds its value pretty well, so you can always sell it if you don’t use it. While the G920 is pretty pricey, you can find it on sale several times a year for as low as $200. However, even the regular price isn’t a bad deal, considering that high-end racing wheels can cost well over $1000.

Limited Accessories
Looking at the Logitech website, it won’t take long to realize the company has tons of gaming accessories to offer. Everything from webcams, keyboards, and mice to headsets and controllers. They even have flight and tractor controllers, but when it comes to racing wheels, things are pretty slim. To give Logitech credit, they have expanded their selection in recent years.
Logitech now offers higher-end wheels like the G923 and Pro Racing Wheel. They also offer a couple of accessories, like a stick shifter. Additionally, some third parties make accessories like a handbrake for Logitech wheels. However, these still pale in comparison to the options their competitors Thrustmaster and Fanatec offer.

One final limitation of the G920 that is worth mentioning is that you can’t easily play VR games like you can with other wheels.
