The 5 Best MMO Mice on Earth Today

Key Points

  • Our choice for the #1 Best Overall MMO Mice is the Logitech G600.
  • MMO mice provide you with 20 programmable buttons for all your needs and shortcuts.
  • You can also customize the side panel buttons to productivity shortcuts.
  • Some MMO mice also allow you to configure the weight, side panel location, and much more.

Massive Multiplayer Online Games (MMOs) use a lot of hotkeys. It’s not easy to tap keyboard shortcuts to use abilities or items, and it can be tiring, too. Assigning a hotkey or macro to a button on your mouse will make it much easier for you.

It can also improve your performance in Player vs. Player modes because you can access abilities much quicker. In these kinds of games, timing is everything!

Let’s talk about the very best MMO mice for you to pick up today!

The Logitech G600 is not only super accurate but it has 20 programmable buttons.

The buttons look like a keyboard’s numpad and each can be assigned to a specific action. In total, there are 12 programmable buttons on the left side of the mouse. In most cases, the buttons are already assigned to actions in popular MMOs, so everything is plug-and-play. You can always customize the buttons as needed.

Another great feature of the G600 is the G Shift button located on the right side, next to the right-click button. When you press the G Shift button, it allows you to assign even more macros. You can think of it as CTRL or SHIFT on a computer’s keyboard. The G600 uses a laser sensor and it has a maximum DPI of 8,200.

As for the downsides, while the G600 still holds the title for best MMO mouse, it’s a bit dated. The mouse was first launched in 2012 and it’s still being sold today. Unfortunately, there aren’t any upgraded models available at this time. Even though the mouse is a bit old, it still works exceptionally well.

ProsCons
20-programmable buttonsA little old, and no updated model is available
The G Shift button doubles the number of programmable buttons. The sensor is not as accurate as Logitech’s newer mice.
Customizable RGB on each buttonRequires batteries
Very budget-friendlyNot wireless

If the Logitech G600 isn’t your cup of tea, the Razer Naga Pro is a great runner-up.

The Razer Naga Pro is a wireless mouse with 20 programmable buttons. Much like the G600, the Razer Naga Pro has a side panel of 12 customizable buttons.

What makes this mouse interesting is it uses a modular design. What that means is you can swap out the side panel of buttons to match the games you want to play. There are three panels included in the box: one with 10 programmable buttons for MMOs, one with four larger buttons, and one with two buttons. The Razer Naga Pro mouse is one of the most versatile mice on the market and you can customize it for practically any purpose.

The Razer Naga Pro is also wireless and can connect to computers via the included USB wireless dongle or Bluetooth. It also has a built-in rechargeable battery, which can last for up to 150 hours. When the battery depletes, you can continue to use the mouse, but you need to connect the charging cable. You can use it while it charges.

One complaint about the Razer Naga Pro is the scroll wheel. Razer allows you to customize a wide range of aspects of the scroll wheel, including the weight and feel. The problem is the mouse will sometimes change profiles or reset the settings, so it’s a bit inconsistent.

Overall, the Razer Naga Pro is a great mouse that allows you to play any type of game with optimal performance. Whether you play MMOs, MOBAs, or FPS games, the Razer Naga Pro is a good option.

ProsCons
20-programmable buttonsThe quality control is inconsistent.
Modular design allows you to connect 3 side panelsThe scroll wheel can sometimes change settings without any input from the user.
RGB on the buttonsSome of the buttons are too sensitive.
Wireless with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The SteelSeries Aerox 9 is a highly lightweight mouse that makes flicks and tracking a breeze.

It’s also wireless with 2.4GHz and Bluetooth functionality. It also has a side panel with 10 programmable buttons.

The unique feature of the Aerox 9 is its lightweight design despite being made for larger hands. The mouse only weighs 89 grams, so you can slide it across your desk without any fatigue or wrist strain, which is great for long raiding sessions.

The mouse also has a sleek mesh design to keep your hands cool. Plus, its AquaBarrier technology gives the mouse an IP54 rating that makes it water and dust-resistant.

The Aerox 9 has a total of 18 buttons that can be remapped to any hotkey or macro. 12 of those buttons are on the side panel. There’s also a dedicated button to change the Counts Per Inch (CPI) with a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 18,000.

The main complaint about this mouse is that the side buttons are a little hard to press — they are a bit stiff and you need to press them at awkward angles. Another downside is the wireless USB dongle is not included in the box. You can connect the mouse via Bluetooth without the dongle, but it doesn’t offer the best performance. The wireless dongle is a separate purchase. Overall, it’s a great lightweight mouse but it takes some getting used to.

ProsCons
Extremely lightweightThe buttons are not so easy to press.
12 customizable side panel buttonsYou have to buy the USB wireless dongle separately.
Comfortable mesh design that keeps your hands coolNot suitable for small or medium hands
Wireless with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

The Corsair Scimitar Elite is a great mouse for MMO players with large hands because it’s not only ergonomically designed but you can also adjust the side panel.

One complaint some people have about MMO mice is the side panel buttons are either too high or too low. Corsair heard those complaints and designed a mouse that lets you move the side panel where you want it.

If you have small hands, you can move the side panel forward. Likewise, people with large hands might feel more comfortable if the side panel is in a lower position — you can choose what feels best. It also has a textured grip on the right side.

Speaking of buttons, two columns of buttons on the side panel are textured, so you can easily find the buttons you want by feel. Combine that with the adjustable panel slider and you have everything you need for a very comfortable gaming session. The mouse includes a total of 17 programmable buttons. 12 of which are located on the side panel. There are also two middle buttons.

What you need to know is the Corsair Scimitar Elite is a wired mouse, and there’s no wireless version on the market at this time. It’s also a bit thick and heavy, weighing a total of 107 grams. Overall, it’s a solid mouse for MMO enthusiasts and it provides plenty of configuration options.

ProsCons
Textured side panel buttonsWired with no wireless version available
The smooth design comfortably fits the palm of your hand. It’s a bit heavy and bulky.
Adjustable side panelThe software can be glitchy at times and reset your mouse profiles.
18K DPI optical sensor for excellent tracking

If you’re on a budget, the Redragon M908 is an excellent choice.

The Redragon M908 looks very similar to the Logitech G600 but it can be found for a bit cheaper. The Redragon M908 has a total of 20 programmable buttons, including a side panel of 10 buttons.

Three features of this mouse stand out. The first is its size, which was designed for medium to large palms and is quite thick. This doesn’t compromise how comfortable it is, though, as it has an ergonomic design with a rest for your pinky finger.

The second notable feature is the Rapid Fire button, which is located above the side panel, next to the left-click button. You can remap the Rapid Fire button to something else if you don’t like the default settings.

The ability to change the weight of the mouse is another fantastic feature. On the bottom of the mouse, you’ll find a compartment that has 8 small weights inside. With all the weights, the mouse weighs 135 grams. Without them, the mouse comes down to 113 grams. You can adjust the weight as you please.

Overall, the Redragon M908 is a surprisingly underrated mouse and it even has unique features not found in top-tier mice. If you’re on a tight budget, then this is a great option.

ProsCons

How to Pick the Best MMO Mouse: Step-by-Step

When choosing an MMO mouse, there are the main points to keep in mind:

  • Ergonomics
  • Connection options
  • Software

Let’s take a closer look.

Ergonomics

It’s very important to buy a mouse that matches the palm of your hand. If you have to strain your fingers to reach certain buttons, you won’t be comfortable. Mice come in a wide range of sizes and shapes, so it’s not always easy to find one that suits you. The easiest way to get a good idea if a mouse is a good fit is to measure your hand.

Place your hand down on a sheet of paper, mark the length and width, and then measure the distance. From there, you can enter your measurements into a tool such as Mouse Jump Ninja to find products that match your hand size. A mouse that is too small for your hand can make your hand cramp after long sessions.

Connection Options

It’s a good idea to buy a mouse that has multiple connection options in case one is not available. For example, if you buy a wireless mouse and lose the wireless dongle, you need something to fall back on. We recommend buying an MMO mouse that can be connected via a wire, wireless RF, or Bluetooth. Generally speaking, wireless mice nowadays have incredibly fast response times and can keep up with wired mice.

Software

Since you will need to program multiple buttons, the software you use needs to be intuitive. It’s very frustrating when you configure each button only for the software to reset everything back to default. Software from well-known companies such as Logitech is usually reliable. Other software can be a hassle to use and there’s typically a learning curve.

What to Know Before Buying an MMO Mouse

If you never used an MMO mouse before, you should know that it takes some getting used to. Some MMO mice will automatically remap buttons for certain games, so you don’t need to remap every single button from the get-go.

However, you might notice that you miss-click some buttons. The side panel buttons can be especially tricky to get used to. If you frequently miss-click buttons, you might want to remap them to a different function or disable them. There is a learning curve when it comes to MMO mice.

Using an MMO Mouse: What It’s Like

Once you learn how to use an MMO mouse, you will notice that you can perform a wide range of in-game actions from your mouse. You won’t even need to use the number on your keyboard for abilities anymore.

In other words, it will improve your gaming performance. Besides games, mice with programmable buttons can also make you more efficient at tasks such as video editing, PhotoShop, or simply browsing the internet. For example, you can assign one button to close a browser tab, close all other tabs, and whatnot. Handy shortcuts make life a whole lot easier!
