Stormtroopers are some of the most iconic henchmen in cinema history. Their recognizable armor is sleek and cool. Fans loved them so much that the 2015 movie Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens decided to make a Stormtrooper one of the central characters. Whether henchmen or heroes, Stormtroopers have always been a favorite among fans. What better way to celebrate these icons than Lego? Continue reading to discover the 15 best Stormtrooper minifigs.
First Order Stormtrooper Minifig (with Blaster)
- Features black blaster or black mini blaster plus two firing pieces
- Figure stands 2 inches tall
- Authentic LEGO product
- Comes loose and ready to build, with no retail packaging
The perfect mix of nostalgia and sleek modernism, the design for the First Order Stormtrooper was fantastic. Some may criticize the similarity to the classic Original Trilogy Stormtrooper, but that is entirely the point. The First Order attempted to use fear tactics and intimidation. What better way to do that than to recreate the imagery that is evocative of fear for most of the galaxy? These guys are kinda like the 90s redesign of the Ford Mustang: imagery that is evocative of a time past, with a sleek, updated design. Most importantly, they make pretty cool Lego minifigs.
Imperial Scout Trooper Minifig with Pistol and Binoculars
- Includes the Scout Trooper Minifig with weapon, binoculars, and bonus Brick People Tile
- Has small parts and is not suitable for kids under 6 years of ago
- The figure measures less than 2 inches tall
- Authentic LEGO Figure
Imperial Scout Troopers have been fan favorites since their debut in 1983’s Return of the Jedi. Scout Troopers are cool like the classic stormtrooper, but with a helmet that allowed for greater visibility. Their armor was also lighter, which gave them greater mobility for ranging. The Empire often used Scout Troopers for reconnaissance and infiltration. They were also often used for occupations like Ryloth and Endor. Most film fans will associate them with the iconic speeder bike chase on the forest moon of Endor. Others may know them as the troops who kidnapped Grogu (Baby Yoda) in the last episode of Season 1 of The Mandalorian.
Please note: As of July 18, 2023, the LEGO Star Wars: Imperial Scout Trooper Minifigure with Pistol and Binoculars is out of stock on Amazon. If you’re unable to obtain it elsewhere, check back with Amazon at a later date.
Shadow Stormtrooper Minifig
- LEGO Star Wars Shadow Stormtrooper minifigure
- Includes blaster
- Figure is made of plastic ABS
- For ages 6-12
From icon to obscure, the Shadow Stormtrooper is a pretty deep cut. Even a lot of dedicated fans aren’t familiar with them. That’s mostly because they are from the area of Star Wars lore now known as “Legends.” They were only reintroduced to the Star Wars Canon in the 2013 card game “Star Wars: Force Collection.” We did say this was a deep cut. Originally they appeared in the Legends comic strip “Gambler’s World” and at that time were called “Blackhole Troopers.” Nevertheless, fans have always been attracted to the stylish black armor of these troopers, which makes them perfect for merchandise like a Lego minifig.
First Order Snowtrooper Officer Minifig
- As seen in The Force Awakens
- Comes with blaster
- First Order variant
- Has officer's pauldron
One of the cool things about Stormtroopers is that their helmets give them a terrifying ambiguity. Not being able to see the face of your adversary makes them feel almost inhuman. You have to give it up to the Empire for utilizing fear tactics. The First Order Snowtroopers took this concept and ran with it. The narrow slit lens in their helmet was ostensibly for glare reduction, but it just made them look that much more intimidating. This made for a frightening image on the big screen, but it makes for a pretty cool Lego minifig on your shelf.
Chase Limited Edition Chrome Stormtrooper Minifig
- Classic Imperial Stormtrooper chase variant
- Chrome armor
- Blaster included
- Limited edition Lego minifig
Chase variants are a cool idea that many makers of collectibles are pursuing these days. Lego is no exception. They add a little variety and fun to every collector’s market. Basically, Lego will make certain pieces with small variations. Customers purchase Lego merchandise and will receive one of the variants at random. Collectors dubbed this type of merchandise “chase” variants because they would often end up going to different retailers or even third-party sellers “chasing” the variant that they needed. Of course, certain variants are coveted more than others, which drives up the price and value. This Stormtrooper minifig with chrome armor is one such variant. Even if you don’t love the price tag, you have to admit it looks cool.
Bad Batch, Captain Rex, Commander Cody, and Jesse Minifigs
- Includes 8 minifigs
- Featuring Commander Cody and Rex for The Clone Wars
- Also features four characters from Clone Force 99
- Measure 1.7 inches in height
Before you fly off the handle, we do understand that there is a difference between Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers and that these characters are the former. Though an argument could be made that Crosshair is both. Either way, we included these on the list because we hated making a list of awesome Trooper minifigs and not including some of our favorite clones. This pack includes all the members of the Bad Batch (minus Omega) and three of the most prominent clones from the Clone Wars animated series. Well, actually Cody made his debut in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, but we don’t want to get bogged down in the details.
Sith Trooper Minifig
- As seen in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
- Red armor variant
- Blaster included
While the clones and characters like Finn raised questions about the coercion of troops, the Sith Troopers had no such ambiguity. They were full-on Sith cultists completely dedicated to the evil cause. Wearing the iconic Trooper armor with added dramatic flair, the Sith Troopers are among the coolest Trooper variants the franchise has ever revealed. While the war for the galaxy raged on, these troops were living on the planet Exogol and watching from a distance. They were just biding their time until the moment was right for galactic conquest. Now they can round out your Lego Star Wars collection by biding time on your shelf.
Imperial Stormtrooper Minifig
- Includes Stormtrooper minifig with blaster
- Measures 2 inches tall
- Suitable for kids 5 and above
- Comes in pieces ready to build
From the latest to the original, this is the Stormtrooper that started it all. There are a lot of cool Troopers on this list, but this may just be the one that is the most must-have. The original Stormtrooper is an icon, recognized around the world. Ever since they burst through the door of in the first scene of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (as it is known now), these formidable soldiers have taken the world by, well… storm. While jokes are often made about their aiming accuracy, these jokes fail to take into account that the plot of the original film involved the Stormtroopers allowing our heroes to escape the Death Star. Turns out Ben Kenobi wasn’t wrong about them after all. Imperial Stormtroopers are elite soldiers.
First Order Flame Trooper Minifig
- Included: Stormtrooper Minifig and Weapon
- Figure is about 1.7 inches tall
- Authentic LEGO figure
George Lucas once described the writing of Star Wars to be like poetry because “it rhymes.” Our next Troopers are proof of that. In the same way that the original Stormtroopers made a big first impression by kicking off their trilogy with a killer action scene, so too did the First Order Flame Troopers. Burning the village of innocents on Jakku set the stakes for the sequel trilogy. The First Order was firmly in the camp of the dark side. Fire has been a visual metaphor for the dark side since Episode III, of course. Anakin Skywalker was consumed by fire, just as he was the dark side of the Force. Here we see the First Order weaponizing fire, a visual metaphor for how they weaponized the dark side. Plus, on top of all that, these Troopers look really cool and definitely worthy of a Lego minifig.
Imperial Patrol Trooper Minifig
- Imperial Patrol Trooper Minifig with a shooting blaster
- Includes a Bonus Brick People Tile
- Figure Measures under 2 Inches tall. Appropriate for ages 6 and up.
- Authentic Minifigure from Lego
Imperial Patrol Troopers are rare in Star Wars movies, only appearing in Solo: a Star Wars Story. They also appear in the hit game, Jedi: Fallen Order. They are a variant of the Imperial Storm Trooper designed to patrol the streets of occupied planets and keep the peace. Maybe that’s why their presence is so rare. Most of the stories in Star Wars revolve around, well, war. The standard Stormtrooper is what freedom fighters in the rebellion would frequently come across. The Patrol Trooper is more than likely the type of Stormtrooper the average citizen in the Core would encounter on a daily basis. Either way, the helmet is one of the coolest designs, and therefore worthy of our list.
Imperial Jump Pack Stormtrooper Minifig
- Authentic Minifigure from Lego
- Featured in the hit game Star Wars Battlefront (2015)
- Comes with a Jet Pack and a firing blaster rifle
- Approx 2" - for children 6 and up
Just ahead of the release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, a reboot game of the popular Star Wars Battlefront series hit the scene. The game was developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts. It was well-received by critics and gamers alike and spawned an even more successful sequel. This little Jump Pack Trooper is inspired by one of the characters in the shooter game. The ability to use the jump pack was a fan favorite, as it provided a cool and convenient way to cross the battlefield. This little minifig is a must-have for fans of the series and die-hard collectors alike.
Captain Phasma Minifig
- Includes a Captain Phasma Minifig with her signature Silver Blaster
- Approx 2 Inches tall. - For kids 6 and up
- Packaged in a clear polyester bag
- Authentic Minifigure from Lego
More than just a lackey, The Force Awakens brought us one of the best Stormtrooper villains of all time. Captain Phasma was the commanding officer of FN2187, later known as Finn. She was a great antagonist to the would-be Resistance general because, unlike Finn, she never questioned orders. Phasma was everything he feared he’d become — a mindless killer and a tool of the First Order. She is a ruthless, self-interested narcissist and it is Finn’s own struggle with, and triumph over, his own self-interest that makes these two characters interesting foils for one another.
Character aside, she is perfect for a Lego minifig because she also happens to be one of the coolest Stormtroopers ever. Her chrome-like Stormtrooper armor is actually made of reflective chromium. This shiny armor has a practical application. It’s good for protection from harmful radiation while also shielding her from blaster fire. In the movies, Captain Phasma carried a Sonn-Blas F-11D blaster rifle. This special blaster designed just for her was also made out of chromium. True to the sleek look of the character, her Lego minifig includes this custom blaster.
Scarif Stormtrooper Minifig
- Authentic Minifigure from Lego
- Based on troopers from the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
- Comes in a clear polyester bag
- Approx 2" Tall - for kids 6 and up
(Please note that as of July 17th, 2023, the LEGO Star Wars: Rogue One – Scarif Stormtrooper Minifigure is currently unavailable on Amazon. Please check back later.)
The climactic sequence of the Battle of Scarif during Rogue One is quite possibly one of the best third acts in the entire film franchise. This minifig is a representation of the Scarif Stormtrooper that appeared in that sequence. These shore troopers gave us a glimpse at what the Imperial Stormtroopers that were outfitted for tropical environments looked like. Much like the snow troopers and the scout troopers before them, their armor was tailored for the specialty conditions they faced depending upon their station. Whether defending the coast or the valuable Imperial archives, these rare troopers are some of the coolest we’ve seen.
TR-8R First Order Stormtrooper Minifig with Shock Baton
- Authentic Minifigure from LEGO
- As seen in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens
- Approx 2" tall - for children 6 and up
- Iconic Shock Baton included with figure
(Please note that as of July 17th, 2023, the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens – TR-8R First Order Stormtrooper with Shock Baton is currently unavailable on Amazon. Please check back later.)
Though he may look like it, the next minifig is no ordinary Stormtrooper. This is TR-8R and for those of you who don’t remember, he was the trooper that fought Finn during the skirmish at Maz’s Castle in The Force Awakens. He wielded the shock baton and Finn wielded the Skywalker legacy lightsaber. Not only was this a cool action scene, but it was also the first time we’ve seen a standard trooper go toe to toe with a lightsaber wielder. That alone makes him one of the coolest Stormtroopers to ever grace the silver screen. Now you can get him in all his minifig glory.
Sandtrooper Sergeant Minifig
- Featured in the original Star Wars movie
- Manufacturer recommended age: 7 years and up
- Classic Stormtrooper with desert staining
- Comes with blaster and droid part
Lastly, we end on a Stormtrooper that was there from the very beginning. He made his first appearance in the original Star Wars (Episode IV for those of you keeping track). This Sandtrooper can be seen on Tatooine looking for the two runaway droids. A scene so memorable, it was even parodied by Mel Brooks in his Star Wars spoof, Spaceballs. Adorably covered in sand (Anakin’s nightmare) and clutching a Lego version of a droid part he found on the desert floor, this little guy is a reminder of where it all began: on a planet with two suns.
