Product Review
Design
The headphone is built with a metal frame covered with rubberized plastic giving it a premium feel and one that can survive abuse. The headband top is covered with felt-type material and bears the company badge. The thin underside is covered with split rubberized padding pieces that dint in the middle. The ear cups are attached to the headband and have adjustable extension arms.
The inner side of the arms is marked with the L and R signs to indicate the proper headphone orientation. A visible Crushing Evo branding logo is on the arms next to the earcups. The earcups form a U-shaped formation but can swivel around about 90 degrees. The outer region of the earcups is made of black plastic, similar to the arms.
The ear controls are situated on the back side of each ear cup. The left ear cup bears the power button and the infamous bass slider. It also has a battery indicator and a pairing LED. The right ear has volume control and playback buttons. The right side also has the 3.5 mm Aux and USB-C port.
App Connection
The Crusher Evo has two apps integrated into its functions. The Skullcandy app allows one to choose and toggle through music, movie, and podcast modes. The app also has the audiodo that lets the user select their listening profiles. In addition to the sound-specific functions, the Skullcandy app provides other features, including a battery status display, a user guide, and instructions for using the Tile App.
The second app is the Tile app which allows one to locate the headphones when they are out of sight. It allows finding a device upon which the headset will produce a beeping sound repeatedly, and the app will indicate how close you are to the device.
Sound Quality
The number one seller for this device is the bass slider and the resultant output. Sliding the bass all the way up is not recommended but surprisingly, even at this level, there is good frequency response. The mid-bass is well-tuned, but as the bass goes down, the sound quality is skewed and levels down to a warm sound. The Crusher Evo does not have active noise canceling. It compensates for this with its good bass that allows you not to miss out on the noise-canceling features. Check out earphones with active noise canceling.
Once you acquire the device and download the Skullcandy app, the next step is taking an audio test to personalize your sound quality. The test involves playing some beeping sounds and then prompts asking about your experience. The app registers your profile. You can also create and delete other profiles for other people.
There are various sound modes available in the app; music mode, podcast mode, and movie mode. The music mode is the default setting. The Podcast Mode offers a smaller bass range and improves the lucidity of the voices. The movie mode, on the other hand, increases the upper bass and lowers the tonal range.
Microphone
The Crusher Evo has an integrated microphone with satisfactory recording quality. The output sound, however, sounds a bit muffled and thin. At 100 Hz, there is a slight bump, making the recording quality for deep voices sound louder than it should be.
Battery
Skullcandy promise 40 hours of use on a fully charged Crusher Evo. The reality is close to this value. The charging port uses the recommended USB-C. Skullcandy Crusher Evo enjoys fast charging properties; it charges to full battery in 1 hour. It also allows for 4 hours of listening after charging for 10 minutes. The device can also be wired by connecting a 3.5 mm AUX cable. The device, unfortunately, does not have any power-saving features to help conserve the battery life when not in use.
Controls
The headphone has adequate controls located conveniently on the back side of each ear-cap for ease of access and use. On the left ear cap, a power button toggles on/off and activates the pairing mode. The haptic bass slider also increases or decreases the audio bass and the music vibrations. The right ear cap has a three-button remote. The top and bottom buttons serve as volume control. The volume buttons can also skip forward and backward when held down. The center button is used for all call-related functions and allows one to play or pause music. When pressed twice, the center button activates Google Assistant.
Connectivity
Skullcandy Crusher Evo supports Bluetooth 5.0 with AAC Bluetooth Codec and SBC compatibility. It, therefore, means that there is no lag when streaming videos or using android devices. It lacks the aptX or LDAC compatibility and thus wouldn’t be the best pick for higher-quality streaming. The Bluetooth technology is well-developed, works in a radius of 14 m, and doesn’t break because of barriers and walls. You only need to download the Skullcandy app and pair it with your phone. Further, the Bluetooth connection is available for only one device at a time and cannot be multi-point. There is also the wired option through the 3.5 mm audio cable.
Modern headphone consoles connect to PS4, X-Box, and Switch wirelessly. Skullcandy Crusher Evo doesn’t connect to these consoles wireless. You can, however, connect with the 3.5 mm audio cable.

Accessories
The Crusher Evo uses the USB-C charging cable that is included purchase box. Instead of the wireless connection, the headset accepts a 3.5 mm Aux cable.

Skullcandy Crusher Evo: Is it a buy?
Buy it if:

It is, therefore, a good choice for anyone looking for high-end features on a budget. You will also stick with skull candy if you are not looking to use the device with multiple devices at a time because it lacks the multi-point function.
Don’t buy it if:
The device will be a wrong choice if you seek to use headphones with multiple devices simultaneously. It is also unsuitable if you look for high-tech features such as active noise canceling.
