Roborock vs. Eufy: What’s the Difference?

Roborock is a heavyweight name in the robotic vacuum world. The brand is known for delivering the best vacuuming performance in this market. Each new model boasts additional features that improve cleaning efficiency, mapping, navigation, and battery life.

The brand’s new flagship, the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, promises the best suction ever at 6,000Pa. While we still have to wait for this robot to be launched in the next months, the S7 MaxV Ultra delivers 5,100Pa of suction power and is the most powerful robot vacuum at the moment.

Eufy also promises unrivaled suction power, but it doesn’t quite live up to expectations. Its innovative Twin Turbine earned the Honoree title at CES 2021, but we’re speaking about two turbines with a suction power of 2,000Pa each. Even combined, they can’t reach the power Roborock’s flagship delivers. Nevertheless, Eufy is a popular choice among users looking for a more affordable product.

Product Lines

Both Roborock and Eufy feature several product lines. Each of them addresses users with different needs and includes budget options as well as highly-performing but more expensive choices.

Roborock divides its vacuums into three categories: ultimate cleaning power, versatile yet powerful, and affordable and effective. It doesn’t take much to guess what’s in each category based on the straightforward names, but you can expect impressive performance from each option.

The Roborock E5 is the brand’s cheapest option, but it stands out with 2,500Pa of suction power, good battery life, app control, and Alexa compatibility. Meanwhile, Eufy’s most basic model – the 11S – only features 1,300Pa of cleaning power and remote control. There is no app or compatibility with smart home devices.

Things change for Eufy’s top-of-the-line products, but performance is still subpar compared to Roborock’s high-end options. Eufy divides its robotic vacuums into four categories: Bounce Series (entry-level), G Series, L Series, and X Series (high-end).

Both Eufy and Roborock’s lines include hybrid robotic vacuums that can clean and mop the floors at the same time.

Design and Cleaning Power

Eufy and Roborock robotic vacuums are praised for innovation and technology, but there’s nothing jaw-dropping about the design. Both brands keep the standard shape of robovacs, which is round. Sure, you can choose from various colors, and Eufy’s vacuums even include colorful design elements, but there aren’t essential differences between their shapes.

For a fair comparison as far as cleaning power is concerned, we considered each brand’s top-of-the-line product. Currently, the best robotic vacuum from Roborock is the S7 MaxV Ultra, which outputs 5,100Pa of suction power and features designed for efficient cleaning of all surfaces.

This hybrid robovac cleans and mops the floor at the same time, but you can easily establish no-mop or no-go zones from the app. Alternatively, you can control the robot via Google Home, Siri, or Alexa. Based on the floor and mess type, you can choose from three cleaning modes and five power intensities. The unit also features three mop modes.

Eufy’s top-range vacuum cleaner is the Robovac X8. This robotic vacuum incorporates the brand’s acclaimed Twin Turbine that delivers up to 4,000Pa of suction power. In this mode, however, the battery gets depleted very fast. Unlike the S7 MaxV Ultra, the X8 isn’t a hybrid robot. It does come in a hybrid version, too, though, the X8 Hybrid.

The powerful airflow generated by the turbines makes this robovac perfect for households with pets, but you’ll get fewer mop modes. On the bright side, this robotic vacuum, too, can vacuum and mop at the same time.

Mapping and Navigation

Mapping and navigation efficiency can make the difference between a good and a not-so-desirable robotic vacuum. The flagship models of both Roborock and Eufy deliver excellent mapping and navigation capabilities, but Roborock is better.

The main difference between the two is Roborock’s LiDAR navigation which employs a variety of sensors and an RGB camera with LED fill light to recognize common and non-mapped obstacles, such as a pair of slippers, a new power cord, and even pet messes. These systems help the robot avoid obstacles for more efficient cleaning.

Eufy X8 doesn’t integrate cameras, using the brand’s proprietary iPath Laser navigation technology. In theory, the robot can detect non-mapped obstacles, but the laser doesn’t always work in real life. It can maintain a good course, though, and provides optimal surface coverage.

Both robotic vacuums can detect floor surface changes, modulating their power and mopping function when passing from hard to carpet floors. They also feature multi-level mapping, but don’t expect either of the two robots to map each room separately.

Battery Life

Another essential feature of a robotic vacuum is its long battery life or the capability to self-dock for charging and resume the cleaning cycle. Both Roborock and Eufy deliver, even though the functions are not available on all models.

Roborock’s robotic vacuums have a battery life of about 180 minutes. The battery is drained faster when the robot increases the suction power, but the self-docking function means you don’t have to worry about recharging it. The vacuum cleaner does everything on its own and resumes cleaning as soon as it’s charged again.

Eufy delivers around 28 minutes of extra runtime. This can truly make a difference if you have a big home and want to clean it faster. Like Roborock, Eufy can return to its charging station and resume work once it has replenished its battery.

Special Features

As you’d expect from two brands praised for technological innovation, their robovacs are packed with special features. However, Roborock has the upper hand with the multiple features found in its flagship models.

For households with pets, the most sought-after feature is the real-time camera. This camera is integrated into the robot so that it can avoid non-mapped obstacles. Yet, you can also access the footage from the app, which is a quick and effective way of keeping an eye on your fur babies when you’re away.

The oversized docking base allows for the self-emptying of both the dust tank and the mopping liquid reservoir. Once connected to the base, the auto-emptying function kicks in. The debris and dirty water are sucked out of the robotic vacuum, the mop pad is self-cleaned, and the tank is refilled with clean water or floor-cleaning liquid.

Eufy X8 doesn’t come with a self-cleaning base, but it features BoostIQ technology. This function detects changes in floor surface and increases suction power as needed. The Twin Turbine technology is also proprietary and only found in Eufy’s flagship products.

Price

Roborock incorporates more functions and features into its robovacs. Thus, it doesn’t come as a surprise that its robotic vacuums are more expensive than Eufy. You can expect to pay around $1,000 for a flagship model, but prices can go as low as $350 for the baseline models.

Eufy is a lot cheaper, with the flagship robovac costing around $550. Basic models like the 11S or 11S Max can cost you under $200. That’s a big difference, especially if you’re on a budget.

Roborock vs. Eufy: Which One is Better?

With a higher suction power, better mapping and navigation, and a wider variety of features, Roborock is undoubtedly the best choice between the two. Even the basic models are compatible with Alexa, and they have unrivaled suction power compared to equivalent models from Eufy. Yet, baseline models from Eufy don’t feature connectivity. The main downside is the price tag, which can set you back over a grand if you want the flagship model.

Eufy packs fewer features than Roborock, but it still cleans efficiently. Its long battery life makes it perfect for larger homes, while the Twin Turbine provides enough power to remove most messes seamlessly. You won’t have to shell out thousands of dollars either since all models are priced under $600. If you don’t care about bells and whistles, Eufy is definitely the better choice.
