For the last decade or so, Samsung has been on a steady release schedule of new devices. Now, after the recent Samsung Unpacked event, there are even more devices to be excited about. Luckily, Samsung is also introducing a new program called Reserve.

Samsung’s Reserve allows people to call first dibs on all their new products. The best part is there is no commitment to purchase. All you need to do is give them your name and email address to gain access to pre-orders as soon as they become available.

You might ask yourself if this is worth it or if it is just some scheme to get your email address.

In this article, we will go over what the service actually gets you so you can see if it is right for you.

Samsung Galaxy Reserve: Overview

Incentives

Although we missed this most recent Reserve event, if you made a reservation for the new Galaxy phone, Galaxy Buds, and Galaxy Watch, you can earn up to $200 in credit.

But, you can also make these reservations separately and get credit for each.

So, the Galaxy phone will get you $100 in credit, Galaxy Buds $30, and the Galaxy Watch will earn you $50 in credit. But, of course, you will only receive this credit once you actually order the devices.

What Are the Fans Saying?

While it may seem weird to reserve a spot for a phone or device before you know anything about it, a reasonably large group of people are excited about this new program.

According to an Android Central poll, 40% of people said that they would say they would pass, but over 30% of people said they would use Reserve for the phone, but not the buds and watch.

After this year’s Galaxy Unpacked, it seems like we expect to see this Reserve program at the Unpacked for 2023, as well. So, even though it didn’t explode in popularity like Samsung thought it would, it did seem to be a successful event, nonetheless.

Products Available

So, what products were actually announced at Unpacked, and do they seem like they would be worth it?

In our opinion, even though some Samsung events have been mildly disappointing in the past, this year’s was pretty good.

We can expect two new Samsung phones this year: the Samsung Z Fold 4 and the Samsung Z Flip 4.

If you are a fan of the flip phone design, both of these newer models seem like a worthy upgrade. The Z Fold added a new taskbar that makes it easier to multitask and a powerful 50 MP camera. The Z Flip is still the more affordable flip option, but it gained a tougher outer-facing screen and a beefier battery.

We also saw two new Galaxy watches, the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Alongside some very welcomed upgrades, the Galaxy Watch 5 now also features a temperature sensor. The Watch 5 Pro is a new part of the lineup and surprised everyone. It is meant for rugged durability and has impressive battery life.

Finally, we got the new Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, which offers 24-bit audio support. They also have improved noise cancellation and a smaller design that makes them more comfortable to wear.

Samsung Reserve: Pros and Cons

Pros

  • You get access to new Samsung products as soon as they are available.
  • You can receive credit for your pre-orders.
  • Reserve does not need a guaranteed purchase to sign up.

Cons

  • You must sign up for the list before the devices are announced.
  • If you decide to go with another product, Samsung can send spam-esque emails.

Final Thoughts

Even though we missed this current version of Samsung’s Reserve program, we are sure this will not be the last time they offer it. And, if you still want to hop on the deals this year, you can download the Shop Samsung App to receive the pre-order credit.

Although Samsung is asking you to sign up for this list before the products are announced, they do not require you to purchase anything immediately, which we have seen with other companies offering similar pre-order deals like this. So, even if the products are announced and none of them pique your interest, you haven’t lost any money.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the next Samsung Reserve event, especially if you are a fan of Samsung devices. We recommend it and think it is worth putting your email on that list for a chance of receiving credit for purchasing brand new devices.
