What Is the Mercedes-Benz EQB?

Reasons to Buy a Mercedes-Benz EQB
Here are seven of our favorite reasons to buy a Mercedes-Benz EQB.
Reason #1: The Sleek Design

One of the best reasons to buy a Mercedes-Benz EQB comes down to the sleek and futuristic design. Yes, it is taking heavy inspiration from its gasoline-powered GLB sibling, but there is quite a bit to set the EQB apart.
The exterior is composed of sleek lines, with the 2024 model featuring a redesigned grille and lighting elements. Mercedes-Benz interiors are designed with comfort in mind and come with the requisite fit and finish.
Reason #2: Luxurious Interiors
While speaking of the interiors, you haven’t seen an EV quite this nice on the inside. The seats are covered in soft leather, which makes for quite a bit of comfort for those long-haul drives.
It is quite spacious, as well, comfortably seating five passengers at a time. You’ve got plenty of legroom up front. Instead of compromising rear seating space for the battery pack, Mercedes-Benz instead opted to cut back on trunk space.
As such, you do have less room for cargo than in the comparable GLB, but the seating arrangement is one of the best reasons to buy a Mercedes-Benz EQB.
Reason #3: It Has Three Rows of Seating
Most EVs this size are strictly five-seaters. That said, Mercedes-Benz has made accommodations to get an optional third-row seat. This isn’t going to comfortably seat seven adults, but should provide ample room for you and your kids.
The third-row seat is a great option, even if it isn’t the best fit for packing a group of adults into your EQB. It gives the EQB an edge in seating when compared to the likes of the VW ID.4.
Reason #4: Priced Affordably for Luxury Elements

The EQB starts at a steep but still attainable $54,000. That will get you the basic EQ 250+ Premium, which is fairly barebones when compared to the rest of the product line. That said, the basic EQ 250+ Premium still comes packed to the brim with features.
Additional trim levels don’t really add that much to the price either. The most expensive model is only $12,000 more than the cheapest. Compared to the likes of the Audi e-tron, you’re getting premium features on a more mid-range budget.
Reason #5: Ambient Lightning
Most vehicles have ambient lighting present for night driving. It helps to see the instrument cluster and other relevant information at a quick glance while on the road. What helps the EQB stand out is the adjustments you can make to the lighting itself.
This is one of the sillier reasons to buy a Mercedes-Benz EQB, but it certainly is a fun one. The EQB can adjust the brightness, color, and combination of colors present for the ambient lighting. It isn’t a dealbreaker of a feature, but makes for a little extra customization for any customer.
Reason #6: Dynamic Regenerative Braking
This is one of the more ingenious features of the EQB. There is specialized software on the EQB that seeks to keep electric consumption to the minimum needed to perform any sort of task.
Instead of having to adjust the regenerative braking like you would on most vehicles, it does this dynamically. When approaching turns, hills, and so forth, the EQB will dynamically adjust the regenerative braking to deliver the power you need.
Reason #7: It Has a Great Warranty
The Mercedes-Benz warranty doesn’t quite measure up to the likes of Hyundai. However, it is one of the best in the business. You get four years or 50,000 miles of limited warranty coverage. This helps cover the likes of defective parts, manufacturer recalls, and other things out of your hands.
The powertrain comes with a four-year or 50,000-mile warranty, which covers the likes of the motor and battery. It doesn’t cover scheduled maintenance, unfortunately. Still, it is a great warranty package that gives adequate coverage for the first few years of ownership.
Alternatives to the Mercedes-Benz EQB
If the EQB doesn’t pique your interest, here are three of our favorite alternatives.
Audi e-tron

The Audi Q4 e-tron is a luxury SUV through and through, which reflects quite heavily in its pricing. The e-tron is a better-performing SUV than the EQB but lacks overall range when directly compared.
The pricing is substantially higher, as well. With the e-tron, you are getting premium materials and the same fit and finish you’d expect from any Audi. If you’re looking for true luxury, this might be the pick to make.
Tesla Model Y

The Model Y is the EV of choice for many users, ranking only behind the Model 3. Tesla’s entry-level SUV is lacking when it comes to overall attention to detail for the interior itself. That said, you’re getting more of everything else with the Model Y.
It has better performance, more range, and a better suite of driver-assistive software. If you’ve been on the fence about the many options available for electric SUVs, the Model Y won’t disappoint.
Rivian R1S

Rivian is a relative newcomer to the automotive industry. The R1S and R1T are a strong debut effort. The R1S is priced closer to the top EQ 350s, but offers quite a bit more range and additional seating to compensate for the extra cost.
Rivian has been a great alternative to Tesla EVs, offering up stellar range, universal charger support, and a huge degree of customization over what vehicle you’re getting. That said, it is one of the more expensive options on the market.
Closing Thoughts
The EQB is a great entry-level SUV from Mercedes-Benz. Yes, it does lack overall performance, but it more than makes up for it by living up to the German auto manufacturer’s stellar heritage. It feels and drives like a Mercedes-Benz, which might be the only reason you need to buy one.
