4 Reasons to Buy a Dell Latitude 2-in-1

4 Reasons to Buy a Dell Latitude 2-in-1

Dell has a half-dozen laptop lines, with models for gamers, businesses, and casual users. There are plenty of options to choose from, but I would buy a Dell Latitude 2-in-1 if I were a traveling professional.

The laptop series is among the best for remote workers on the go or anyone interested in a powerful hybrid system. While they aren’t the company’s best 2-in-1 laptops, here are four reasons I would buy a Dell Latitude 2-in-1 laptop today.

The Design

When you work from a laptop, it should be comfortable to use and well-built. The premium versions of the 2-in-1 Latitude meet that criteria for most people. While we’ve seen some complaints on cheaper and older models with flex, it’s something you’ll have to deal with on many hybrid laptops.

This laptop has a clean, modern design with an aluminum chassis. Weight varies by build, and while it’s not light as a feather, it’s under 3.5 pounds. The design is more than a little reminiscent of the XPS series, and that’s a good thing. It’s also an eco-friendly PC, considering the shell is made from 75% recycled aluminum.

Like most 2-in-1 laptops, you can use the Dell Latitude in several different modes. It’s a fantastic traditional laptop, but the 360-degree hinge lets you put it into tent mode. It’s versatile and durable, thanks to MIL-STD-810H certification. This EPEAT Gold laptop is designed with the environment in mind, but Dell made sure it’s durable enough to stay out of the recycle pile.

Features

The Dell Latitude 9440 is packed full of features for professionals. It starts with Windows 11 Pro and perks like ExpressSign-In. When active, this feature can wake up your PC when it detects your presence and lock it when you walk away.

Onlooker detection and Look Away Detect are handy when working in crowded environments, while SafeShutter adds a layer of privacy to your webcam. You can also access webcam controls through LED glyphs across the top of the touchpad. It’s a nice touch, and we’re big fans of the oversized Collaboration Touchpad.

The touchpad has haptic feedback, and the keyboard is one of the best around. It features a zero-lattice design with mini-LED backlighting. Audio is impressive from the two long speakers on either side of the keyboard. While the webcam tops out at 1080p and 30fps, it’s an IR camera, and dual-array mics capture the audio.

Connectivity options are solid on this laptop with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and three Thunderbolt 4 ports. All have power delivery, and there’s an option for 5G if you opt for the WWAN configuration. From the fingerprint scanner to the Dell Optimizer, there’s a lot to sink your teeth into with this lineup.

Performance

Performance is another area that depends on the machine you choose. All of the new Dell Latitude 2-in-1 laptops allow you to configure the innards to suit your needs. What’s available varies by model, and as you’d expect, the 9440 has the best components.

This laptop gives users a choice between three 13th Gen Intel chips. There are two Core i5 processors and the Core i7-1365U. Memory is listed at 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR6, and there are two hard drive sizes with 256GB or 512GB solid-state drives. While there’s no option for 64GB of RAM with this model, the specs are certainly nothing to scoff at.

Make sure the laptop has enough RAM to suit your needs. The Latitude 9440 starts at 16GB and goes up to 32GB.

The smaller 12-inch Latitude 7320 uses older 11th Gen Core i5 and i7 chips from Intel. The RAM also takes a hit with 8GB and 16GB of LPPDR4 memory. The solid-state drives stay the same, however, with Class 35 drives. The same holds true for the Latitude 9330, which lies in the middle of the pack with power.

This laptop sports 12th Gen Intel chips and allows you to choose from 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB of RAM. You can also pick a 1TB SSD if you need more space or select Windows Home instead of Pro. These PCs have Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics, but some features we’ve touched on are only available on newer models.

Display

The design and features are common threads with the new line of Dell Latitude 2-in-1 laptops, but the display depends on the model. At the top of the heap is the Latitude 9440, with a 14-inch panel. This IPS touchscreen display has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600.

The Dell Latitude 7320 has an FHD+ display at 1,920 x 1,280, and it’s only 13 inches but detachable. There’s also the 9330 2-in-1 with a 13.3-inch touchscreen display. It’s a QHD+ panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600, like the 9440. These are just their current models; you’ll find other sizes and resolutions with older machines.

All feature the company’s InfinityEdge design and have an anti-smudge coating to keep fingerprints at bay. The panels handle reflections well and have sharp, vivid displays. Are they on par with Apple’s Retina panel? No, but they aren’t designed for that and will certainly get the job done. As someone who stares at a screen all day, the comfy display on the 9440 is one reason I would buy a Dell Latitude 2-in-1.

Using a laptop with a poor screen can result in eye strain, but Dell Latitude panels are sharp, vivid, and handle reflections well.

Buying a Dell Latitude 2-in-1

If you want to buy a Dell Latitude 2-in-1, you can choose the options you prefer when you pick one up from Dell. This version of the Dell Latitude 9440 is powerful and has something extra under the hood. It’s a great choice for professionals interested in a 14-inch laptop and has all the features you’d expect from Dell’s flagship model.

This sleep laptop has an Intel Core i7 under the hood. You can store files on the 512GB solid-state drive and dig into that data and other content on the vivid panel. It has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 but won’t kill the battery.

You can expect around 15 hours or more of power from this PC, which has double the RAM of the base model. This upgraded Latitude has 32GB of RAM out of the box and runs Windows 11 Pro.

This laptop belongs to the Latitude family but has a slightly different design than the 9440. There are no speakers next to the keyboard, and it doesn’t have a haptic trackpad, but it does provide users with plenty of power for the price.

The Latitude 5340 has a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-1365U processor and 16GB of RAM. That, combined with the FHD display, ensures fantastic battery life and top-tier performance throughout the day. It also has a 512GB solid-state drive along with business-friendly features like Dell Optimizer.

While not as large or powerful as our top choice, this laptop has plenty of pop and is lighter and more portable. It’s a fine alternative to the 14-inch model and considerably cheaper, depending on the configuration.
