Razer Blade Stealth Laptop Overview
The Razer Blade Stealth is a premium gaming laptop that isn’t really the best for gaming. Instead, it is considered an ultrabook, which is a compact laptop that has a lot of power for its size. At the same time, it is certainly a gaming computer with some decent specs to run a variety of games. However, it may struggle to run some of the newest games that have high GPU demand.
Release Date and Price
Razer unveiled the computer at CES 2016, where it won the Best Laptop Award. Since then, Razer has released a number of updates, with the latest coming out in 2019. A few variations were released earlier in the year. The MSRP at release for this computer was $1,999.
Different Models
The Razer Blade Stealth Laptop has few variations, and the laptops are not made-to-order or customizable. However, there are a few variations of the laptop that you should consider. For instance, the latest model only has FHD graphics compared to the one released in the middle of 2019 that featured a 4K display. The newest model also features the Nvidia GTX 1650 Max-Q rather than Intel-integrated graphics.
Features
There are a number of features on the Razer Blade Stealth, such as USB-C and a touchscreen. But the ability to dock the laptop has to be one of its best features. Although you can dock any laptop, Razer makes a custom dock called the Razer Core that is specifically designed for use with the Blade Stealth. The Razer Core is essentially an external GPU that also features a few other ports, such as Ethernet.

Razer Blade Stealth Laptop Review
The Razer Blade Stealth Laptop is a stunning computer that is designed to feel like a high-quality product the moment it touches your hands. It also has a nice amount of features that make it one of the best laptop choices. With that said, there are some downsides that you should be aware of, specifically the limitations of the laptop if you are a hardcore gamer.
Design
The Razer Blade Stealth has a sleek and stylish design that is extremely thin for a gaming computer. While it isn’t as thin as other compact computers, such as the MacBook Air, it does manage to fit a lot of power in a small form factor. Besides its thin profile, one of the first things you will notice when getting close to the laptop is that it has a CNC-machined, anodized aluminum body.
This full-metal frame is what really makes the Razer Blade Stealth feel like a quality device. Although it is easy to create a light computer out of plastic, an aluminum frame ensures lasting durability, which is perfect for a laptop that you intend to travel with. One potential downside to this small form factor is that it is small, with a 13.3″ screen.
This makes it a perfect portable laptop, but it might not be the best option for those who want to play all the time. The keyboard has an island-style design and it is RGB backlit, both of which are expected at this price range. One of the few things you can choose on the Razer Blade Stealth is its color. It comes in two anodized finishes: gunmetal and black.
Display
The first thing you will notice after opening the Razer Blade Stealth is its absolutely stunning screen. At only 13.3″, it manages to pack in a lot of color and detail on a small screen. The first generation of Stealth model laptops featured a 1080p screen, which is very impressive for a monitor of this size. But the newest version features a mind-blowing 3200 x 1800 OLED touchscreen.
That’s right; it has a QHD+ display that is only 13.3″ inches. This means you will be able to see even the smallest details on every screen. Unfortunately, you may struggle to run certain games at 4K with the built-in Nvidia 1650TI. In addition, the display also has OLED technology, so you will get really dark blacks and impressive contrast. The touchscreen is also a great feature that provides even more control.

Ports and Connectivity
The ports on the Razer Blade Stealth are a bit limited because it is so thin. However, it actually has a nice variety of connections, considering what other similarly sized laptops offer. It has 2 Thunderbolt, 4 USB-C ports, and 2 USB-A ports. There is one of each port on each side of the computer, which is nice. It also has a 3.5mm headphone/microphone combination port.
By far, the best thing about this port selection is that it uses Thunderbolt 4, which is capable of outputting two displays and offers improved compatibility with docked accessories. USB-C is great for docking a laptop because it only requires one port to connect numerous functions, but there is a limit to how much you can connect. Thunderbolt 4 raises the bar by allowing more devices without slowing down.
There is no charging port on the Razer Blade Stealth since it uses USB-C for charging. But it does have some other options, such as Wi-Fi 6 wireless and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. Finally, it has an HD webcam built into the display and THX Spatial Audio. This computer’s sound is especially impressive as it mimics 7.1 surround sound with only four speakers.
Processor and Graphics
The Razer Blade Stealth uses an 11th-generation Intel i7 processor. What is really impressive is that this tiny computer is able to fit and effectively cool this processor. But slightly less impressive is the Nvidia 1650Ti Max-Q. Unfortunately, this is an older GPU, so you won’t be able to run the super-intensive games at the screen’s native resolution. Regardless, this is still enough power for productivity tasks and even gaming.
RAM and Storage
As previously mentioned, the Razer Blade Stealth only comes in one model, so the base specs are what you get. Unfortunately, this means you can’t get a computer with more RAM or storage. The laptop comes with a 256GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. The good news is that the SSD is upgradeable with another NVME chip. Unfortunately, the RAM is built into the motherboard, so that cannot be replaced.
Razer Blade Stealth Laptop Pros and Cons

- Portable
- Machined aluminum

Razer Blade Stealth Laptop: Is it a Buy?
Buy it if…
You need a high-performance laptop that is also compact!
The Razer Blade Stealth is an exceptional choice for productivity in a compact design. If you do a lot of photos or video editing, especially while traveling, then this is a good choice. Similarly, if you like to play games on the go, it is an incredible machine. Also, consider whether or not the design is important to you, as it does have an impressive build quality.
Don’t Buy it if…
You need more power and don’t mind a larger form factor.
Size always has a trade-off with power. If you want more power, then you will need a larger device. The primary reason is that a computer needs to not only fit components but also provide ample cooling. This is a real challenge on small laptops. Therefore, you should really consider going with a different laptop, such as the larger Razer models, if you need more power and don’t mind a little bit bigger computer.
This laptop is also not for you if you demand the best gaming experience. While the Razer Blade Stealth does offer some decent gaming potential, it doesn’t have the GPU of other high-end gaming laptops. One option is to invest in the Razer Core, which is an external GPU that is perfect for using the laptop at home in a dock. However, this won’t help if you like to play on the go, and if that is the case, then it is best to buy a higher-end Razer laptop.
