Polestar vs Lucid: What’s the Difference?
Polestar is now getting on people’s radars, although the company has been around for quite some time. The company was founded in 1996 by Volvo’s partner Flash/Polestar Racing, a Swedish performance racing team. In 2015 the company was acquired by Volvo (which was acquired by Geely in 2010) and began shifting into the company we recognize today. Polestar is headquartered in Toslanda, right outside of Gothenburg, Sweden. So far, Polestar has been successful and expects to be profitable by 2024, a unicorn in the world of electric cars.
Lucid Motors was founded in 2007 and initially traded under the name Atieva. They originally built batteries and powertrains but expanded into cars when they built their $700 million facility in Casa Grande, Arizona. In 2021, Lucid Motors announced its merger with Churchill Capital Corp IV, a SPAC (special purpose acquisition company). 2022 will be Lucid’s first full year of active production.
Polestar currently sells two models – Polestar 1 and Polestar 2- with a third one coming by the end of 2022. The Polestar 1 is a hybrid sedan and was released in 2019. Only 1,500 models of this car were produced, making it a limited edition car. The company’s future is the Polestar 2, an electric sedan with tens of thousands of sales. The Polestar 3 is slated to be the SUV of the lineup, although it isn’t currently available. The 3 is expected to launch in October of 2022.

Polestar vs Lucid: Which One is Better?
Polestar and Lucid are in different stages of development. With production ongoing, Polestar is available for purchase. Dealerships around the country carry this model, and you can walk out with a ride. Additionally, their cars have a larger support structure and are backed by Volvo. If you want to purchase a new car for daily use, the Polestar 2 or 3 is the best option.
