The first step is to custom-design your model, this is where you could add the performance pack upgrade. Something to keep in mind, however, is that you need the dual-motor setup to add the Performance Pack. Alternatively, you can shop the companies existing inventory to see what they have available.
Next, you will need to make a refundable $500 deposit. During this stage, you can calculate payments, see trade-in options, and modify certain accessories on the car.
The third and final step is delivery. Simply schedule the time you would like your car delivered, and the process happens without you even having to be there. Alternatively, you can schedule a pick-up, provided there’s a location nearby. They offer a detailed map with retail locations nearby where you can test drive or just shop for a Polestar in person.
Polestar usually estimates that it will take about 2 weeks for you to receive your care once ordered.
History of Polestar 2 Performance: What to Know

A fast-growing electric car manufacturer, Polestar is giving Tesla a run for its money. The company has been around since the 90s when it was the racing branch of Volvo, but they have since evolved. When Volvo took full ownership in 2015, they transitioned the company into the electric car space and began creating cars.
The Polestar 2 is the first commercially available car from Polestar since the Polestar 1 was only a limited-release hybrid model. Since its release, the Polestar 2 has done incredibly well and has set itself as one of the better cars, especially within its price range. Still, like any company, there are always customizations and trim packages to choose from. For Polestar, the Polestar 2 Performance is about as good as you can get right now.
The Performance edition combines Polestar 2’s Dual-Motor and the Performance Package hardware and software upgrades. To purchase a Performance edition car, Polestar requires you to have the Dual-Motor option of their Polestar 2. Only then can you purchase the Performance pack, increasing the, well, performance.
The main difference between the Performance Pack and the standard dual-motor setup comes down to hardware and software tweaks. When you upgrade, you get custom Brembo brakes, a software package that optimizes performance above everything else, Öhlins Dual Flow Valve dampers (which are adjustable), and upgraded 20″ Forged Alloy Wheels. Altogether, these changes are what improve the standard dual-motor option from the Performance Pack.
Polestar 2 Performance: Price
True to its name, the Performance model is designed for performance. The car costs substantially more than the base model option. For some, the added cost is worth the upgrade. The Polestar 2 Dual Motor, the one required for the Performance upgrade, starts at $51,900.
Adding the Performance Package on top of that costs a flat $5,500, bringing the overall total of the Performance model to $57,400. For comparison, the Tesla Model 3 Performance Model, the direct competitor to the Polestar 2 Performance, funs a flat $62,990.
The nearly $60k that the Polestar 2 Performance costs lands the car just inside the “starter luxury category.” Although the car isn’t as cheap as other options on the market, it’s a great middle-ground for consumers looking to have a bit of fun without totally running into the luxury performance EV market and, say, buying a Model S.
Overall, the Performance Pack has noticeable improvements in nearly every aspect of its driving. Notably, the horsepower of the dual motor setup cuts the 0-60 time by nearly 3 seconds and increases the top speed by 40 mph. While these stats are just numbers on a screen, the “feel” of the car is drastically improved over the single motor and slightly improved over just the dual motor without the Performance Pack.
The Public Response
Overall, the general public has enjoyed the entire Polestar lineup. The company is good at a few things, particularly the build quality. It’s also working towards sustainability. Since the first commercially available car, the Polestar 2, was released, it has scored highly on review sites online. People who aren’t interested in a Tesla but want a solidly built EV with all the whistles should seriously consider the Polestar 2. Even more, for those who want more “fun” in their car and are hoping to spend around $60k, you aren’t likely to find a better option besides this car and the Model 3 Performance.
