Since Apple released the iPhone in 2007, it is only fitting to appreciate how it has matured and aged into an iconic device leading the smartphone industry. Apple has since been developing and releasing newer and improved iPhones of different specifications, aesthetics, design, and other features.

The giant search engine, Google, is not new to the smartphone business with unique creations like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. While it has constantly been working to develop Android optimized for the emerging generation of devices, it has yet to launch foldable phones. However, there have been speculations that Google is working on its first foldable phone — the Pixel Fold. Still, the idea of having such a phone from Google is quite exhilarating.

On paper, the iPhone 14 and Pixel Fold are innovative, with impressive specs and features, but how do they compare in reality? Here is what we know about the Pixel Fold and how the Pixel Fold vs. iPhone 14 face-off.

Pixel Fold vs. iPhone 14: What’s The Difference?

Foldable phones are the new kids on the block, with companies like Samsung and Oppo pioneering the niche. This new breed of phones has introduced something fresh and fun in the market, offering competition to conventional phones like the iPhone 14.

Significant differences exist between the Pixel Fold and iPhone 14, primarily because of the technology used. Save for obvious design and build differences, comparing the two phones proves difficult with only speculations about the Pixel Fold. Remember that more information about Google’s Pixel Fold is yet to emerge. From what we know, here is how the Pixel Fold is different from the iPhone 14.

Operating System

It’s pretty apparent that the iPhone 14 runs on Apple’s iOS, contrary to the Pixel Fold, which will use Google’s Android. With each phone using an in-house operating system, you can be sure they will provide a top-notch user experience.

Apple’s iPhone 14 is tightly integrated with iOS 16 to change how users experience the device. According to Stuff, Google’s leaked documents highlighted that the unannounced alleged Pixel Fold would run on Android 13.  Apple’s operating system has been one of the best for a long time, offering users safer phone use. The new iOS 16 has improved features, deeper intelligence, new personalization features, and seamless communication and sharing. Among the system’s best features are a re-imagined lock screen, fuss-free family sharing, a smarter wallet, and better message management, to name a few.

Android 13, integrated into the Pixel Fold, does not fall far behind. The new Android 13 allows for several settings to give your phone a personalized touch. Above this, other new tweaks include per-app language preference, picture picker, and new media controls.

Battery

The iPhone 14’s battery is one of the best Apple has made, with a capacity of 3279mAh. The phone manages up to 20 hours of video playback, 16 hours of video streaming, and up to 80 hours of audio playback.

On the other hand, it is rumored that the Pixel Fold will house a battery with a capacity between 4700mAh to almost 5000mAh, which makes it superior to the iPhone 14. Front Page Tech stated the Pixel Fold is heavy,  which can infer that the phone has a big battery, which ultimately translates to a larger capacity.

Display

The iPhone 14 is a standard phone with one 6.1-inch main screen, contrary to the Pixel Fold. Pixel Fold has two screens — one on the outside and another on the inside, both manufactured by Samsung. The front screen of the Pixel Fold is supposedly 5.79 inches while the inside one is 7.67 inches.

Business Standard states that it is speculated the Pixel fold will have a peak brightness of 1200 nits, and although there is no certainty, the phone will have a nearly 120Hz refresh rate. The 6.1-inch iPhone 14 display has impressive Super Retina XDR screens with OLED technology that support Dolby Vision, a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1, and a peak HDR brightness of 1200 nits.

Both phones are fantastic for watching movies and playing games. If you do not need Pixel Fold’s extra screen, then the iPhone 14 will offer you a better display.
