Has someone ever told you to check out a TV show or movie, only for you to discover it’s exclusively available on a streaming service? It’s a sinking feeling, especially when you don’t know how to access that streaming service in the first place. Take Peacock, for example. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just turn to a TV station on your DISH Network guide and access the NBCUniversal streaming service from there? Turns out, some guides do offer access to streamers. But is Peacock included? Here’s what we found out.

Is There a Peacock Channel on DISH Network?
As of this writing, there is no channel that gives you access to Peacock from your DISH Network guide. That’s not to say that DISH can’t make this change in the future, of course. For now, however, you cannot enter in any specific channel number to access Peacock from your DISH guide. You’re going to have to use your smart TV’s streaming hub or purchase an external streaming device to plug into your television to watch Peacock on your TV.
The History of Peacock

Peacock began as an attempt for NBCUniversal to tap into the success of other broadcast conglomerates who had entered the streaming space. From CBS’s Paramount+ service to ABC’s Disney+ (and Hulu) streamers, NBCUniversal understood that its closest competitors were having great success in an area the company hadn’t even entered yet. As such, Peacock was born. Launched in July 2020, the service derives its name from NBC’s iconic logo and offers subscribers access to hundreds of movies and shows in the NBCUniversal catalog.
At its start, Peacock tried to gain a competitive edge over its rivals with the inclusion of a free tier. Thanks to ad support, viewers didn’t have to pay a dime to enjoy Peacock if they didn’t want to. While access to premium content was hidden behind a paywall, streamers could watch a decent selection of Peacock movies and shows without spending a thing. But, as the months went on, it became increasingly clear that this free option would not be successful for NBCUniversal in the long run. They subsequently dropped it and offered only paid tiers from then on.
Today, Peacock comes in one of two forms. There’s Peacock Premium, priced at $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year. Or, there’s Peacock Premium Plus: $11.99 a month or $119.99 a year. The service provides a library of content from across NBCUniversal stations like NBC, Bravo, and NBC Sports. It also offers classic films from the NBCUniversal catalog, plus original movies released day-and-date with theatrical runs. Peacock also produces original shows for its service that later air on NBCUniversal stations.

While you cannot access Peacock from your DISH Network guide, you can still enjoy the service via alternative means. Whether you choose to use a streaming box or your TV’s smart hub, you should still know what kind of programming is offered by the NBCUniversal streamer. Here’s the kind of content you can find on Peacock today.
Movies
Peacock has a huge selection of films on its site. This is true of both subscription tiers. From the Universal library to other offerings from Magnolia Pictures, Hallmark, Lionsgate, and beyond, Peacock has access to close to a thousand different features at any given time. Plus, it releases original films — such as the hit horror film Five Nights at Freddy’s — straight to the service too.
TV Shows
Similarly, Peacock offers an enormous variety of original and acquired television shows. From The Office and Parks & Recreation to Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show, its comedy selection is truly top-notch. Plus, all those classic NBCUniversal properties like the Law & Order franchise, the Real Housewives franchise, and more. Peacock also puts out originals made in-house.
Sports
Because NBC Sports is one of the biggest names in live sporting events, it’s unsurprising to see that Peacock has tons of sports content available on the streamer. Olympics coverage, NFL games, NASCAR races, WWE fights… you name it, and Peacock probably has it online. It gives you everything an NBC Sports viewer would expect.
News
Lastly, Peacock includes a healthy dose of highly informative news programs. From NBC News to MSNBC talk shows to financial headlines over on CNBC, you won’t miss out on a single bit of breaking news on Peacock. Plus, it comes with all those true crime documentaries and docuseries you love to watch.
