Lifetime on DISH Network

Lifetime launched in 1984 with an interesting mix of material. Initially, the network focused on medical content before switching gears in the late 80s towards syndicated shows. They moved into women’s programming in the 90s and have never looked back. They are a top choice with women in the United States, but the channel is popular in countries like Canada, the UK, Turkey, and Australia as well.

People interested in watching Lifetime on DISH can pick up the channel through any of the satellite company’s packages. That means it’s included in the America’s Top 120, 200, and 250 plans. You can get Lifetime with the DISH Flex package as well. Lifetime doesn’t come with the Lifetime Movie Network, however.

Lifetime Programming

The Lifetime channel is typically known for its original movies these days with a mix of reality thrown in. The network has a variety of programming seven days a week revolving around reality shows, films, and syndicated content. The day and time of year influence their schedule as well. That means you can find Joel Osteen on early Sunday mornings, along with other religious shows.

You may find Montel doing a military makeover on a Wednesday or Joyce Meyer enjoying everyday life during the same time frame. Seasonal content is popular during the holidays. It’s not uncommon to find the schedule dominated by Christmas or Valentine’s Day films when those seasons roll around. The network also has a variety of TV shows, including syndicated content from other networks.

Lifetime’s schedule consists of a mix of original shows and movies throughout the day.

Current syndicated programming from Lifetime revolves around drama. Grey’s Anatomy and Castle often air in blocks along with shows like The Closer. Newer shows include Rizzoli & Isles, Major Crimes, The Mentalist, and The First 48. Lifetime movies fill in the gaps in the network’s schedule, along with paid programming in the wee hours of the morning.

Lifetime Originals

The term Lifetime Originals refers to film and TV shows produced by the network. While many associate movies with the network today, they’ve been home to plenty of popular TV shows over the years. Dr. Ruth was a familiar face for seven years, and we’ve seen shows from celebrities like Regis Philbin and originals like The Lizzie Borden Chronicles.

The content is varied, and Lifetime has launched many franchises like Little Women and Project Runway. They currently have a couple of talk shows, but their TV programming is largely reality-based content. Married at First Site and its spin-offs are currently at the top of the charts on Lifetime. Other popular Lifetime Originals include Marrying Millions, Dance Moms, and Designing Spaces.

When it comes to Lifetime Original Movies, their catalog is impressive. The network has aired Lifetime Original Movies for decades and they have become a part of pop culture in that time. There are hundreds of films in this category, and new ones roll out every year.

Lifetime Sister Stations

Lifetime’s oldest and most recognizable sister station is the Lifetime Movie Network or LMN. It’s channel 109 on DISH Network, and it is the best place to binge on original films from Lifetime. While the name has changed somewhat since the channel’s inception, the films and the audiences they are intended for have largely remained the same.

This channel is separate and only included with Lifetime if you choose the Top 200 or Top 250 packages. You can also pick up LMN through the DISH Network Variety package, including BET, Bravo, Freeform, and Investigation Discovery. Another sister station from Lifetime Networks is called LRW, or Lifetime Real Women. LRW is not available through DISH Network at this time.
