It was reported in June of 2021 that New York private equity fund, Cerberus Capital Management, had acquired control of the company. Their website boasts over 180,000 courses, videos, and texts with the largest catalog of titles in subjects such as information technology, leadership, business, and compliance training. Forgotten Tech Companies of New Hampshire

The following companies were founded in New Hampshire, but they no longer exist in their previous forms. These forgotten tech companies have been rebranded due to mergers or acquisitions.

Dyn

Our first acquired and rebranded company is Dyn, a domain name system (DNS) provider founded in 1998 in Manchester, NH. It was acquired by one of the world’s largest database, software, and cloud service providers, Oracle, in 2017. Oracle rebranded the company as Oracle Dyn. Despite a change of owners, the rebranded company maintains a facility in Manchester, NH.

Adaptive Communications

Another company that used to be active in New Hampshire is Adaptive Communications LLC. Adaptive Communications was a Portsmouth, NH-based provider of information security services founded in 1997. In June 2016, they were acquired by Optiv Security, Inc., a privately owned information security company from Denver, CO. Although Optiv is still headquartered in Colorado, they continue to have a presence in Portsmouth, NH.

True North Networks

The final company on our list was only recently rebranded via a merger. True North Networks was a financial technology company founded in 2002 in Swanzey, NH. In March of 2021, the company was acquired by Bluff Point Associates, a Westport, CT private equity firm. In July of 2022, True North merged with Lenexa, KS firm RightSize, to form Visory. Both companies are affiliated with Bluff Point Associates. Although Visory is based in Chesterfield, MO, the company retained the Swanzey, NH office to continue to capitalize on its contacts in the region.
