As the company’s first production EV, the I-Pace is unique. Despite being announced in March 2018, deliveries began in June 2018 for Europe and in October 2018 for North America. This lineup represented the face of electric SUVs from Jaguar, and it was a massive step towards the EV-olution of the famous car brand.
Initially, Jaguar released three variants for their all-electric SUV lineup. It included the Model S, SE, and HSE. HSE is a top-of-the-line model with bumped-up luxurious features. However, the basics, i.e., top speed, acceleration, and range, were similar across all the variants.
Jaguar skipped the 2021 edition to focus on the 2022 model. So, in 2022, only the HSE model was released in the market, but with significant updates and better specs. Jaguar also carried on the same tradition of a single variant in 2023. So, the Jaguar 2023 I-Pace is available only in the HSE variant.

Jaguar is a British car manufacturing company headquartered in Coventry, England. The company first surfaced nearly a century ago and produced some of the world’s most famous race cars, sports cars, and luxury-appointed automobiles. Since then, it has passed through several phases and eventually merged with Land Rover in 2013.
Jaguar established itself by manufacturing a string of successful, eye-catching sports vehicles, including the Jaguar XK120 (1948-54), Jaguar XK140 (1954-57), Jaguar XK150 (1957-61), and Jaguar E-Type (1961-75), all of which embodied the CEO’s motto of “value for money.” The company’s legendary sports vehicles bore great success in international motorsport, demonstrating the superior engineering quality of the cars.
Jaguar’s two victories in the LeMans 24-hour race in 1951 and 1953 rank among its proudest moments in motorsport. Later, in 1956 and 1957, the Scottish racing team Ecurie Ecosse earned two additional victories.
The mid-engine, twin-turbo XJ220 was introduced in 1992, powered by a 542 horsepower (404 kW; 550 PS) V6 engine. Martin Brundle achieved a speed of 217 mph (349 km/h) on the Nardo track in Italy, making the XJ220 the fastest production vehicle in the world at the time.

Jaguar has incorporated the “Jaguar Sports Car DNA” in the design of the Jaguar I-Pace. The car has an aesthetic, aerodynamic look that provides minimum air resistance. The vehicle is available in various colors, from Santorini black to Eiger grey to Portofino blue.

The 2023 Jaguar I-Pace is identical to last year’s model, with a 90 kWh battery that allows 247 miles of all-electric driving. The vehicle has a pair of electric motors, each at one axle. The motors provide 394 horsepower and 512 lb-ft of torque combined, allowing a 4.5-second sprint to highway speeds from a standstill.
The all-electric Jaguar I-driving PACE excites your senses like no other car, thanks to virtually immediate torque and integrated All-Wheel Drive stability. The battery is located intelligently along the wheelbase. This offers a stable center of gravity and permits better car handling. Jaguar Drive can provide quick acceleration from 0 to 12,000 RPM with no shift shock or interruptions.

The 2023 Jaguar I-Pace provides adequate range to easily float you around the city for at least half a week. The vehicle offers different ranges according to tire sizes. The usual 20″ model offers 246 miles of range on a single charge. This value goes down to 217 miles if you are driving a 22″ variant. Therefore, if you intend to buy the vehicle with the most range, order the 20″ wheel variant.
Jaguar has got you covered if you love the 22″ variant but still want to tackle the challenge of a lesser range. The level 1 charger isn’t going to help much in this case. But with the level 2 home-based charger, you can get 22 miles of range with 60 minutes of charging. Additionally, this will allow you a full charge if you leave it on the charger overnight.
Level 3 DC fast charging spices things up. Jaguar has significantly improved in this domain; now, you can get up to 78 miles of range with only 15 minutes of charge. This allows you to have a wholly charged vehicle within an hour.
Also, an important aspect here is the concept of regenerative braking. When you lift your foot off the accelerator, the car converts the mechanical energy by friction into electrical energy and uses it to charge the battery. Aside from that, Jaguar has also made wireless charging a standard feature for the electric crossover.

Jaguar has designed the interior of this EV while keeping in mind the “sporty nature” of the car. Leather seats with a premium finish provide a comfortable and luxurious ride on all terrain. A beautiful colorful screen adorns the center of the dashboard.

Jaguar added many new features to the 2022 I-Pace EV, all of which have also made it into the 2023 model. The most noticeable ones are the safety features. Jaguar has loaded the vehicle with all the possible safety features, both pre and post-collision, so you only enjoy the “speed thrills” part of the phrase.
Jaguar I-Pace comes with a blind spot warning and accident avoidance system. Both pre and post-collision safety systems are also available. The vehicle is also full of airbags to keep the passengers as protected as possible. There are two front-sided airbags along with both front and rear head airbags. Stability control, Traction control, and emergency Braking Assist also adorn the technology domain of the SUV.
Jaguar I-Pace is also laden with infotainment features, and it comes with the new Pivi Pro support, which Jaguar intends to make better through over-the-air updates. Meridian Premium Band speakers provide crisp and powerful sound.
There are 16 total speakers with a combined output of 825 watts. Buying a new vehicle also entitles you to 3 months of satellite radio service. In addition, the I-Pace is the first Jaguar to use built-in Amazon Alexa voice control, by which users can access the infotainment and calendar, listen to the news, and check the weather.
The Public Response
Jaguar I-Pace is a vehicle that speaks more to the heart than the mind. Some other cars, i.e., Tesla Model X, also present a similar price tag, which has affected the sales of the Jaguar all-electric SUV. And yet, Jaguar fans out there have preferred this SUV over all the competitors. It is evident from the increasing sales of vehicles in both Europe and the USA.
Sales of this EV have compounded from 6,490 in Europe in 2018 to 13,444 in 2020, and then again declined slightly in 2021. This was partly due to Jaguar not introducing a newer 2021 model. Similarly, sales in the US have also increased steadily from 393 in 2018 to 1,409 in 2021.
Even though the trend has been positive, the numbers are not enough to mark this SUV as a success. Many buyers will point out other electric vehicles over this SUV, mainly because of the better range and partly because of the better features.
Some of the better options have been the BMW iX, Genesis GV60, and Cadillac Lyriq. Despite this, the Jaguar styling is difficult to replicate, and if you’re looking for an EV that embodies the true British racing heritage in a modern format, the I-Pace is the perfect car.
