Hyundai Types: Every Hyundai Model Available and Planned for the Future

Hyundai Motor Company manufactures and sells automobiles and auto parts. The company, established on December 29th, 1967, has its headquarters in Seoul. Hyundai has six locations around the world, including three in Korea and one each in Japan, India, and Germany. It also has a California design center that caters to the U.S. market.

The company’s first model, the Cortina, was released in 1968 in collaboration with Ford. Since then, the company has made huge progress, selling more than 4 million cars worldwide. Hyundai models are sold in over 200 countries, and Hyundai has more than 5,000 dealerships.

Hyundai Models

The following are common models manufactured by Hyundai.

Hyundai Kona

The Hyundai Kona is a small SUV with excellent handling, a cozy interior, and optional all-wheel drive. The base engine has average power and good mileage. The optional turbocharged engine provides rapid acceleration without significantly reducing fuel efficiency, making for a considerably more pleasurable driving experience. 

The top-of-the-line Kona N trim is a genuine high-performance SUV. It has an eight-speed transmission that shifts quickly, a sport-tuned suspension, and almost 300 horsepower. The Kona’s cabins are feature-rich and stylish in all models. Convenience features like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard in these models. The Kona boasts exceptional warranty coverage, much like all Hyundai vehicles, so you can rest easy when driving.

Hyundai Tucson

The most recent Hyundai Tucson ticks all the boxes in the demanding compact SUV sector. It offers a four-cylinder gas engine as the base model, a trim with a gas-electric motor, and a plug-in hybrid model with an all-electric range of up to 33 miles. The Tucson’s quiet cabin and comfy ride give it a premium appearance on the road. The standard engine’s acceleration is poor, but the hybrid models’ electric motors have more power.

The Tucson has a large cabin compared to others in its class, with ample passenger space and a sizable cargo compartment. All models come with cutting-edge safety technology and standard features. Options including a 10.25-inch touchscreen, premium audio, and programmable ambient lighting are added in higher trim levels.

Hyundai Elantra

With its highly curved and multifaceted sheet metal and its large grille with wrap-around headlights, the 2023 Hyundai Elantra distinguishes itself from rival compact cars. But don’t assume it’s only about aesthetics; it also has much substance to support it.

The Elantra bridges the gap between the mid-size Sonata and the smaller Accent in the Hyundai lineup. The Elantra has many variations, including a budget-friendly base trim, highly effective hybrids, and a sportier option, like the bigger Sonata. The Elantra N variant has 276 horsepower and feels quite powerful. 

The Elantra distinguishes itself from rival sedans with its roomy interior, standard features, and extended warranty. Unfortunately, the 2023 Elantra is not available in a sporty hatchback body shape, but its numerous positive attributes compensate for that.

Hyundai Santa Fe

The 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is a perfect option if you find the most recent generation of compact SUVs too tiny and want something other than three rows of seats. The Santa Fe fills the gap between the Hyundai Palisade and the Hyundai Tucson. It has a wide list of standard features backed by a very extensive warranty, just like any Hyundai.

The most popular trim level has an All-Wheel Drive 2.5 L 14 engine. According to estimates, Santa Fe gets 25 MPG on the interstate and 22 MPG in the city. 

Hyundai Palisade

Hyundai has appealing three-row SUVs. One of the best in its class, the Hyundai Palisade could become even more appealing with the additions and improvements for 2023. The Palisade offers plenty of interior space for up to eight passengers, much like the Kia Telluride. It also offers many features and is simple to drive, but it stands out by having a more luxurious appearance and attitude.

The Palisade has a soft suspension that sacrifices some handling assurance for comfort, but that should not hold you back. It’s also less fuel-efficient than others in its class, but it comes out tops overall.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

Hyundai is recognized for producing dependable, attractive vehicles and crossovers at decent prices, and the 2023 Ioniq 5 EV checks most of these boxes. It is available in four variants with two battery sizes. They are available in all-Wheel and rear-wheel drive. 

Although it is technically a compact SUV, the Ioniq 5 features midsize space, with better rear legroom than any rival and a sizeable cargo space. It is cozy, has good handling, and is enjoyable to drive.

The Ioniq 5 offers a range of 303 miles, more than most of its rivals in the rear-wheel-drive configuration with the long-range battery. Moreover, the 2023 all-wheel-drive trims’ have a longer range and a modest fuel economy improvement. The Ioniq 5 also has lightning-fast DC fast-charging capabilities, which is quite convenient.

Hyundai Santa Cruz

The U.S. market for small pickup trucks disappeared over forty years ago. But their practical size and usability have spurred a comeback. The Hyundai Santa Cruz is an example. It provides a seductive fusion of a pickup truck and crossover utility features.

The 5-seater has 5 trim levels, with the SEL Premium AWD being the most popular model. Its interior could easily be mistaken for a small SUV. Much of the interior design is borrowed from the Hyundai Tucson crossover. In terms of performance, the Santa Cruz feels like a sport sedan with a pickup truck bed, especially the turbocharged charged 281-horsepower engine. Overall, it’s a decently sized pickup.

Hyundai Venue

The Hyundai Venue, one of the most affordable crossovers in the market, is a practical car with most of the standard features in modern cars. The Venue is a fantastic option for first-time buyers thanks to its fuel efficiency, spacious cabin, and excellent safety rating.

The Venue is the most affordable Hyundai and is the entry model to the company’s SUV lineup. It has a more conventional SUV appearance and style that matches the Hyundai Palisade. Unlike most SUVs, the Venue only has front-wheel drive, which is common for base-level crossovers. The performance and fuel economy of the 1.6-liter engine are commendable.

The Venue’s cabin feels spacious, and the back seat will fit two adults. The cloth-trimmed seats have a beautiful pattern that makes this small crossover feel more expensive than it is. Although small, the cargo space is functional, and the 60/40 split-folding rear seats significantly increase adaptability. The Venue has the most modern driver-assist technologies as standard, which helped it receive the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick designation.

Hyundai Ioniq 6

The brand-new Ioniq 6 from Hyundai, which debuted in 2023, aims to solidify further the company’s position as a pioneer in all-electric transportation. The midsize sedan’s aerodynamic profile, which Hyundai calls a “streamliner,” is intended to give two seemingly incompatible features: an opulent interior with high-end eco-friendly materials and a superior EV range. 

With a range of up to 361 miles and a built-in charging system that can restore 80% of the battery’s power in less than 20 minutes, it’s a very convenient ride. Ioniq 6 has the same platform as Ioniq 5, which is not very luxurious. Three different EV powertrains are available for the Ioniq 6, but only the top-spec, 330-horsepower model, offers significant acceleration. 

Overall, the Ioniq 6 delivers a comfortable and quiet ride, while its cutting-edge driver-assistance systems work to make commuting less stressful. 

Hyundai Kona Electric

The Hyundai Kona Electric is a tastefully designed entry-level EV with a long warranty, competitive range, and adequate luggage space. The two-row compact crossover was positively received when it was released in 2019. Price is a concern, but when buying an EV, range and charging times are equally important. 

A few additional standard features are added to the already lengthy list for the 2023 Kona Electric, and its style, which had a significant revamp in 2022, is still modern. However, the ride is unpleasant due to an unrefined suspension. It also doesn’t have an all-wheel-drive option.

The Kona EV has two different battery packs; the 48.6 KWh battery has a range of 197 miles. The upgraded battery is 64.8 KWh and offers a range of 260 miles.

Hyundai Sonata

Everyone can find something to like about the Hyundai Sonata sedan. Apart from the three gas options, they have a hybrid for those who place a high priority on fuel efficiency. The N-line performance engine is quite responsive. The interior is cozy and features premium trims, which are unusual for a sedan of this price range. 

The Sonata also has a modern infotainment system and many standard and optional safety features. It’s easy to select a Sonata model that matches your comfort needs and driving preferences because of the variety of engine options available from the eight trims.

Future Hyundai Models

Hyundai has hinted that it has a lineup of new models to be released in 2024. Here’s a sneak peek into some of them.

2024 Hyundai Kona

The newest Kona electric vehicle from Hyundai was unveiled at the New York International Motor Show. It will have an impressive range of 260 miles. This second-generation vehicle will be positioned in the small SUV category for the local market. 

The all-new Kona maintains its legendary identity while fostering active lifestyles for drivers of all ages with its durable, dynamic style, and upscaled dimensions. It also offers cutting-edge innovations and advanced features that deliver a secure, connected, and pleasant experience.

Among the notable upgrades are over-the-air (OTA) software updates, dual 12.3-inch panoramic display panels, and Hyundai’s newest infotainment system. 

The new Kona has a wide selection of powertrains. Buyers can choose internal combustion and electric powertrains, including the sporty N Line model. The brand-new 2024 Kona will reach American dealers this summer, and the Kona EV will follow in the late fall.  

2024 Hyundai IONIQ 7

The Ioniq 7 is an all-electric three-row SUV. It’s expected to be the third car in the growing Ioniq line of electric vehicles. It will borrow the pixelated taillights and daytime running lights design from the Ioniq 5 and 2023 Ioniq 6. 

Although the seven idea includes coach doors and a lounge-like interior, the final product will have a standard interior. Its cabin is anticipated to use some Ioniq 5 design elements.

Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which supports a range of sizes and battery types, will serve as the foundation for the Ioniq 7.

The Ioniq 7 will likely have a range of more than 300 miles and a 350 kW charger, allowing it to charge from 10 to 80 % in around 20 minutes.

It’s expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2024 at an estimated price of $50,000.
