One of the most popular game shows available today, Jeopardy! is worth watching every day. Ever since its first episodes in 1984, modern-day Jeopardy! has been entertaining audiences with tough questions and plenty of drama. Host Alex Trebek quickly became a living room staple as did moments on the show like Double Jeopardy! .
With 8,000 episodes from the last 40 years, it shouldn’t be surprising there is a big appetite to watch Jeopardy!. However, what do you do if you don’t have a cable subscription these days? The good news is that even without cable, you can easily watch Jeopardy! online for free. Let’s show you how to do exactly that so you can start screaming answers at your television right away.
Watching on Broadcast TV
Over-the-air broadcast TV is arguably the easiest way to watch new episodes of Jeopardy! during the week. Depending on your location in the United States, Jeopardy! can air on either ABC, NBC, CBS, or Fox. If you head to the show’s official website, you can plug in your zip code and it will let you know which local affiliate airs the show during the week.
In my case, Jeopardy! airs on ABC, but a few miles down the road, it airs on another station. To make this easy, most smart televisions will be able to pull up these broadcast stations. As these stations rely on ad revenue to remain free, they only require an internet connection to watch. Long gone are the days of bunny ears.
Using a Streaming Service
This is a bit of a tricky one as you can find Jeopardy! episodes available from various streaming services. What’s tricky about this is which streaming service is largely dependent on which broadcast channel airs the show.
If you’re located in an area where a CBS affiliate hosts Jeopardy! episodes, you can subscribe to Paramount+ with Live TV. As soon as you subscribe, you can stream new episodes live. To get live access to your local CBS affiliate, subscribe to the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan option. This plan currently costs $11.99 monthly or $119.99 yearly and includes over 45,000 episodes and movies commercial-free.
If your area airs Jeopardy! on an NBC affiliate, you can subscribe and watch via Peacock Premium Plus. The $11.99 Plus plan includes all of the rest of Peacock’s features including NBC and Bravo shows, along with live access to your local NBC affiliate.
Signing Up for Streaming Television
If you want to go a different route than Peacock or Paramount+, you can choose a streaming television service. Some of the best names in this space are YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, FuboTV, and more. While all of these services cost varying amounts of money, they all have access to CBS, NBC, Fox, and ABC live local affiliates.
Not only do these services offer you live TV, but they also all come with DVR-like storage so you can actually tape episodes of Jeopardy! and watch them later in the day, the next day, etc. Just about all of these services are priced between $70 and $75 a month and offer upward of 90+ channels each.
How to Watch Using Pluto TV
Another really fun way to catch up on older episodes of Jeopardy! is to use Pluto TV. This wildly popular internet TV channel offers 36 total seasons to watch. To access Pluto TV, all you have to do is head over to Pluto.TV and select the Jeopardy! channel. Once you are on this channel, you can watch “live” old episodes as they play 24/7. With 36 seasons in total, you have thousands of different episodes Pluto can cycle through so you shouldn’t see the same episode twice for a long time.
If you have a smart television, you can also install the Pluto TV app across Samsung, LG, Sony, and Roku televisions just to name a few. As soon as the app is installed, you can go right to the Jeopardy! channel and watch directly from your television. All you have to do is sit in your favorite chair and continue shouting the answers at the screen.
Attend a Live Taping
Should you want to get the full Jeopardy! experience, the show offers you the opportunity to attend a taping live in person. Now hosted by Ken Jennings, one of the show’s all-time winners, you can travel out to the Los Angeles area and see the top-rated quiz show on television in person.
As long as you are 18 years of age, you can apply to be a member of the audience. Audience invitations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s worth trying to apply for multiple shows or seasons. The good news is the website will list available show times with tickets still available.
