Discord revolutionized how gamers communicate. We love to talk to our friends in strategy games and give orders in MW2. Discord was the perfect addition to PC gaming because it used fewer resources and worked phenomenally well. Now, Xbox gamers get the same benefits. But before you can enjoy some epic gamer trash talk, you’ll need to learn how to use Discord on an Xbox.
But don’t worry; we’re here to help! Connecting Discord to your Xbox isn’t difficult, but it takes a few steps.
Discord and Xbox – A Match Made in Harmony
PC gamers have used Discord for years. You can create servers, invite your friends, post funny GIFs, and help newbies complete heists on GTA. Before you do any of those awesome things on Xbox using Discord, you should probably take a gander at what you can’t do on Discord with an Xbox.
- You’ll need to make some new friends – Discord on Xbox only lets you communicate with your Xbox friends. The desktop client or Discord mobile app only lets you communicate with your Discord friends.
- Live streaming – You can’t broadcast your Discord audio while live-streaming on your Xbox.
- Location – Discord may not be available in your region. If it isn’t, you can’t use Discord on your Xbox.
- Discord Party Chat features – Other features like screen share and Invite everyone may also be unavailable.
While the platform does have some limitations, it’s still an excellent way to talk to friends while gaming on your Xbox. Of course, you’ll need to create a Discord account, and an Xbox profile, and link them before you get started. We’ll show you how to do all of that in the following sections.
Create a Discord Account and Xbox Profile
Ok, if you’re searching for How to use Discord on Xbox, you’ve likely already done this step. If so, skip ahead. But for those who don’t have one or the other, peruse through the next two sections to get everything ready.
Creating a Discord Account
If you don’t have a Discord account yet, or you want a different account for your Xbox, you can click on this link to sign up for a new Discord account. Click the Open Discord in Your Browser link or download Discord on your device. Input a username, your email, a password, and your birthday.
Finally, check your email to confirm your account creation. Then, your Discord account is ready to connect with your Xbox profile.
Creating an Xbox Profile
Next, it’s time to fire up your Xbox and create a profile. Hold the Xbox button on your Xbox controller to power it on. Then, use the left toggle switch to move to the right. Click A on the + icon. Input an email, your username, birthday, etc. Then, create your profile.
How to Link Your Discord and Xbox Accounts on an Xbox
You can link your Discord and Xbox accounts using the Discord mobile app, or your Xbox. But if you choose to link your accounts on the Xbox, you’ll still need the Discord mobile app or desktop app to finish the process.
So, we’ll show you how to initiate the process in this section if you prefer to connect your Xbox and Discord accounts using the console. Then, we’ll show you how to finish the process in the following sections.
If you want to start the process on your Xbox, do this:

Step 6: Link Your Accounts
Now, you can use the mobile app to scan the QR code, or you can sign into your Discord account on the Xbox web browser.
How to Link Your Discord and Xbox Account on Desktop

Step 5: Click Authorize and Continue

Discord is excellent because you can use it on a PC, Xbox, or a mobile device. If you prefer to use the Discord mobile app, follow these steps:

Make sure you’re signed into your Discord app and tap on your profile icon in the lower far-right corner.

Step 6: Sign Into Xbox
Click Continue. Finally, sign into your Xbox account and authorize the connection.
