Trying to figure out how to send large video files can be a pain. For many email users, video files may be too large to upload and send. For example, Gmail only allows files of up to 25MB to be sent via email. Large video files can also take up too much storage space, which can cause problems down the road. To avoid issues, here’s how to send large video files in two different ways.
How to Send Large Video Files via Gmail in 5 Steps
If you’d prefer to keep your videos in your Gmail account, Google does offer 10GB of free storage. This makes it easy to use Google Drive to store videos that you can then send via email. Here’s how.
Step 1: Open Google Drive and Gmail
First, you’ll need to open both your Gmail account and your Google Drive. Having both open will make sending the video easier.
Step 2: Upload Your Video to Google Drive
You can now upload your large video file to Google Drive. This can take a few minutes to finish, depending on your file size. Google will inform you in the right-bottom-hand corner how long you have left to wait.

Step 3: Copy the Google Drive Video Link
Once your video has been uploaded, you can then get the link to send to someone else for viewing. To do this, simply click the three dots on the side of the video, then click “Share”. You will get the option to share via email, or to copy the link. We suggest copying the link.
If you choose to get the link, you’ll want to update the viewing options. This includes whether the person you send the link to can download the video, view it, or edit it in any way.

Step 4: Add the Link to an Email
Once you’ve copied the link, you can add it to an email and send it to anyone you’d like. Create a new email, choose the recipient, and add your subject header and the body of the email. Then, include the link.

Step 5: Send the Email
Once the link has been added to the email and you’ve said what you needed to, you can now send the email. Your recipient will receive the link and they will be able to click it to watch the video. It’s that easy!
