How to Remove a Gmail Account on an iPhone (with Photos)

You can delete one or more Gmail accounts on your iPhone when you no longer need them. How you remove them will depend on how and where the Gmail account was added.

In this guide, we’ll show you three simple ways to delete a Gmail account on iPhone. Let’s get started!

Methods to Delete a Gmail Account on Your iPhone

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I delete a Gmail account off my iPhone?

Depending on how you added the Gmail account, there are three different ways to remove it.

If you added it using the iPhone Mail app, you’ll need to go through Settings –> Contacts –> Account –> Delete Account.

If you added it through the Gmail app, go through the Gmail app –> profile picture –> Manage accounts on this device –> Remove from this device.

If you added it through the Safari browser, you’ll need to launch Safari –> tap Menu –> tap the Gmail account –> remove an account.

Does removing a Gmail account delete all data?

Removing a Gmail account from a device does not delete all data, it simply removes access to the account from a certain device, which, in this article’s case, is an iPhone. You can log in to the account at any later date as long as you have access to your Gmail credentials.

What is the difference between removing and deleting a Gmail account?

The difference between removing and deleting a Gmail account is that “removing” removes the account from a select device, and “deleting” permanently deletes all data associated with the Gmail account in question.

If you want to use your Gmail account again in the future, remove it from the device. This will allow you to log in to the same account from any device as long as you have access to the credentials.

If you are done altogether and no longer want the Gmail address, delete the account.

What happens to linked accounts when you remove Gmail?

Any apps or accounts that list the Gmail in question will be unaffected by removing it, though you may need to log in to your Gmail elsewhere if those accounts send verification to your email address.
