Google had users’ needs in mind when it incorporated forwarding into Gmail. With the forward feature, you save time you could spend rewriting or copying a message to send to someone else. The forward feature is not located in the inbox like compose. So, you might spend time looking for it. Keep reading to learn how to forward single or multiple emails on your device.
Method 1: Forwarding a Single Email to Gmail
You can forward a single email, whether it is in a thread or a stand-alone email. You can use the Gmail app or the Gmail web version.
Forwarding a Single Message on the Gmail Web Version
Step 1: Open your Gmail inbox

Open your browser (preferably Chrome) and search mail.google.com. Enter your account login details if you are not logged in to that device to continue to your Gmail inbox.
Step 2: Locate the email you want to forward

Tap on the email you want to forward. If you can’t quickly locate the email, search for it in the search bar using its subject or another phrase you can remember.
Step 3: Select the forwarding option

While on the email, click the three dots in the top right to open a drop-down menu. On the menu, scroll down to forward. You can also reach forward with one click by scrolling down to the bottom of the email and then clicking on forward.

Step 4: Enter the recipient’s address

After selecting forward, you get a field similar to what you have when composing a new email, and the cursor is in the “To” field. Type the recipient’s address to continue. You can add more than one email address if you need to forward the email to several people.
Step 5: Send the email

If you are pleased with all the contents in the email, click the send option at the bottom left to forward the email.

Forward an Email to the Gmail App
You can forward a message using the Gmail app whether you are accessing it through an Android or iOS device. Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1: Log in to your Gmail account on your device

Download the Gmail app through the Apple Store or Play Store and enter your account details to open your Gmail inbox.
Step 2: Get the email you want to forward

Open the email you want to forward. You can also search for the email in the search bar if you can’t quickly locate it.
Step 3: Find the forward option

Click on the forward option at the bottom of the screen to forward the email. You can also get forward by clicking on the three dots in the top right corner to open a menu and then click forward on the drop-down menu.
Step 4: Enter the recipient’s address

After clicking forward, you open the email compose page, where you enter the recipient’s email address.
Step 5: Send the email

Make any necessary edits in the email and when it is ready, send it by clicking the paper-like airplane icon at the top of the screen.
Forwarding Multiple Emails
If you need to forward multiple emails, you don’t have to do so one email after another. Instead, you can forward several emails at ago using a Chrome Extension called Multi Forward for Gmail.
You can download and install this extension in your Chrome browser, which enables you to forward emails in bulk. Unfortunately, forwarding multiple emails is only available in the Gmail web version and not in the Gmail app. Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1: Open Chrome Webstore

Open Chrome and click on the three dots at the top right below the control functions. On the menu, click settings, then scroll down to extensions.
Step 2: Find the Multi forward for Gmail extension

On the search bar, type Multi forward for Gmail and hit enter. Click on one of the results to get the extension.
Step 3: Add the extension to Chrome

Click the add to Chrome menu at the top to download and install the extension. Confirm to add the extension on the prompt that pops up to continue.
Step 4: Confirm if the extension is downloaded and installed

After a few seconds, the extension is automatically added to your browser. Ideally, you see a black arrow among your Chrome extensions. Otherwise, if it’s not among other extensions, click on the extension icon to get it. You can pin the extension to the bar by clicking on the pin icon to the right of the extension.
Now that you have the Multi forward for Gmail feature, you can forward several emails. Follow these steps:
Step 1: Select the emails to forward

Check the box to the left of the sender’s name to select the email. There is no limit to the number of emails you can forward using this feature.
Step 2: Forward the emails

After selecting all the emails you need, click on the black arrow in the middle of the top icons to forward them.
Step 3: Send the emails

Type the receiver’s address in the field that appears and then click Multi-forward. These emails will be sent in bulk.
#4. Automatically Forwarding Emails
Suppose there are emails that you need to forward now and then; you don’t have to follow the above-written steps. Instead, you can use Gmail’s automatic forwarding feature.
However, this feature is only available in the Gmail web version; thus impossible to use it on your phone. Follow these steps to learn how to use it.
Step 1: Log into your Gmail account

Search mail.google.com on your browser and enter your Google account credentials to log in if you are not logged in.
Step 2: Go to settings

Click the settings icon on the right of your Gmail inbox to open a drop-down menu, then click see all settings.
Step 3: Navigate to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab

Under settings, click the forwarding and POP/IMAP tab to open a list of forwarding options. On this tab, select add a forwarding address in the forwarding option.
Step 4: Enter the address to forward the emails to

You get a prompt to enter the address to which you intend to forward the emails. Enter the email address and click next.
Step 5: Confirm your action

You’ll be redirected to a confirm forwarding address window. Click proceed if you are sure that you want to forward emails to that email address. A verification code is sent to the email you intend to forward the emails to for further confirmation.
Once you select “Ok,” you’ll receive a verification email to the forwarding email address.
Step 6: Verify the email address

Log in to the Gmail account to which you want the forwarding emails sent and open the Google Forwarding Confirmation email.
This email is mainly found under the updates tab, but you can also look in the spam folder if you can’t find it. After opening the email, click on the link below the text ‘please click on the link below to confirm the request.
Step 7: Confirm the process

Click confirm when prompted to add this Gmail account to the forwarding preferences.
Step 8: Go back to the original account’s forwarding settings

Open the Gmail inbox of the original account in another tab, click the setting icon, then more settings, and switch to the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
Step 9: Confirm the forwarding action

Enter the confirmation code from the previous email and click verify for further verification.
Step 10: Set your forwarding options

After forwarding, select what you want to happen to the email you selected. Your options are; retaining a copy of the forwarded emails in the inbox without marking it as read, retaining a copy and marking it as read, moving the forwarded copy to the archive folder, and moving the copy to trash after forwarding it.
Step 11: Save your changes

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click save changes. Gmail will automatically forward all emails received to the account you verified.
