What is Call Forwarding?
Call forwarding is a feature that allows you to reroute your incoming calls to another number. When someone calls your phone, the call will be redirected or forwarded to the specified alternative number. You can forward your calls to any other phone, such as a colleague’s, home phone, or an alternative number.
When this setting is enabled on your device, your phone will not ring when people call you, and the call will be immediately transferred to the forwarded number instead. Many Android phones have built-in call-forwarding features, making it easy for users to set up their forwarding settings without needing customer service or technical support assistance.
How to Forward Calls Using Android: Step-by-Step Guide
Forwarding a call on an Android device is typically straightforward and relatively similar, regardless of the version or model. It is important to follow the steps below carefully to forward a call successfully.
Step 1: Open Your Phone Apps and Locate Settings App
To begin, you will need to access the phone apps on your device. To do this, start by swiping your fingers across the home screen sideways or upwards. This action will display a list of all the applications installed on your phone.
Look for the Settings app and click on it.
Step 2: Click on Sim Card Settings
These features may be different for different Androids. Some show Call Settings, SIM, and network settings, while others show SIM Card settings. You want to click SIM Card Settings, and after you do this, your phone will offer three features.
- Auto-choose SIM
- SIM card and mobile network
- Carrier features
Step 3: Click on Call Settings to Go to Carrier Features
Click on the Call Settings to go to the Carrier Features, which directs you to Calling accounts feature. Under this feature, you will have two options:
- Settings: This shows the mobile network you are using. If your handset supports two or more SIM cards, they appear in this section. Click on the one you want to forward your calls to.
- Make and receive calls: This is not important in call forwarding, so you can just ignore it.
Step 4: Click on the Number You Want to Forward
Click on the SIM network you want and proceed to the next step.
Step 5: Click on Call Forwarding
After tapping on the network you want, your screen will show five other options:
- Fixed dialing numbers
- Call forwarding
- Call barring
- Additional settings
Click on the Call forwarding option.
Step 6: Click on Audio Call Forward
After tapping on the forwarding option, you will have four options.
- Always Forward: This option is the most appropriate for forwarding your calls. After tapping on it, put the number you wish your call to be forwarded to and Turn it On.
- When Busy: With this option, enter the number you want to forward your incoming calls to when you are busy.
- When Unanswered: If you are called and missed a call, enter the number to forward to and turn it on.
- When Unreachable: Sometimes your phone may be on airplane mode, out of network, or switched off for some reason. Enter a phone number to forward your call if this is the case.
Choose the most appropriate option for your case. However, these numbers might be set to your voicemail.
Step 7: Select the Number
The last step is to input the number you wish to forward your calls to and Turn it on. This way, you will achieve call forwarding successfully.
