Unlike some platforms that only offer dark mode on iOS devices, Twitter lets both Android and iOS users change to enable dark mode, and we’ll show you what to do. Whether you want to enable dark mode and use it all the time, or you only want to use it in the evenings, it’s easy to enable dark mode on Twitter.
Nearly every social media platform offers some variation of dark mode. The feature has become immensely popular in the past few years because it emits less blue light and, arguably, looks better than a bright white screen.

How to Enable Dark Mode on Twitter for Android
The steps to enable dark mode for Android aren’t much different than they are on an iPhone or iPad. The effects of dark mode are also the same. Your screen’s background will turn black, and the text will turn white. However, dark mode doesn’t affect any media. Any GIFs, videos, or photos you see on Twitter will keep the same color scheme they had originally.

Follow Device Settings to Enable Dark Mode on Twitter
We wouldn’t leave you hanging on a little more explanation about the Follow device settings feature. Both Android and iOS devices have the option to enable dark mode in the settings. If you switch between dark and light modes often, it’s best to choose this option (just follow the steps above).
If you’re an iPhone user, you can change to dark mode and back to light by going to Settings>Display>Dark Mode.
Android users, on the other hand, can go to Settings>Display>Dark. Then, any compatible apps will also enable dark mode.
Other Twitter Display Settings
Now that you’ve successfully enabled dark mode on Twitter, let’s review some other things you can change to make Twitter more visually appealing. The app developers do a great job ensuring you have plenty of features to enhance text size, contrast, and more. Here are some more things to change while you’re making changes in the Twitter settings.
Reduce Motion
Another feature you can enable on Twitter, aside from dark mode, is reduced motion. As you’re scrolling your Twitter feed, you’ll come across animations and Live engagements. This feature limits those.
Go to Settings, just as we did above. Then, tap the Accessibility, display, and languages settings. Rather than tapping the display option, go to Accessibility. Tap the Reduce motion toggle switch.
Note: These instructions work for iOS and Android devices.
High Contrast (iOS Only)
If you’re having trouble clearly seeing the Twitter screen, you can increase the color contrast for both dark and light modes. If you enable this switch, it will deepen the background and lighten the text even more, making it easier to differentiate the two.
You can enable the high contrast appearance by going to Settings and Support and clicking on Settings and Privacy. Then, click Accessibility, display, and languages. Finally, tap Accessibility and toggle the switch next to Increase color contrast.
Lights Out Twitter
As far as social media display customizations go, Twitter has some of the best. Twitter not only lets you enable dark mode on Android and iOS devices, but you can also dim the lights. You can even change more of the display settings to make the app more enjoyable. Just follow the steps above to enable dark mode for Twitter on the mobile app.
