How to Copy a YouTube Link Step by Step With Photos

As you follow a breadcrumb trail of suggested videos on YouTube, you may find an interesting video to share or save to watch later. Copying a YouTube link can be tricky whether accessing YouTube through the website or the app. Thankfully, the process is not impossible. Here’s how to copy a YouTube video to share or paste elsewhere.

If you are using YouTube through the browser, you can copy a YouTube video link either through the address bar or by opening the video first. Here are the steps to follow for each method. 

Step 1: Log in to YouTube

Open your browser and search www.youtube.com. Enter your Google account details to sign in and continue. Besides, you can go directly to your YouTube homepage if you have already signed in on that computer. 

Step 2: Locate the video

On the search bar, type the name of the video whose link you want to copy and hit enter to search. Scroll through the results to get the video you are looking for. If it is not among the results, try searching again using another keyword relating to the video. You can also look for the video in your history if you have opened the video before.

Click the video whose link you want to copy. As it plays, scroll down to the options below the video and click share. Under share, the video link opens in a field. Click copy, and the video link is now copied to your clipboard. Check the clipboard history to confirm that the link is on your clipboard. 

Use the keyboard combination Windows key + V or Windows computer or Shift + Command + V for a Mac computer. Otherwise, paste the copied link to the new location where you want to share or save it.

Open YouTube and search for the video whose link you wish to copy. After locating the video, click it to play.

While playing the video, click on the address bar to select the link, then right-click and select copy. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut F6 to select the address bar, then Ctrl +C or Command-C to copy the link.

You can copy a YouTube video URL using the YouTube app on your Android phone. Here are the steps you follow:

Step 1: Open the video you intend to copy

Open the YouTube app on your Android and type a keyword related to the video you are looking for in the search bar. Hit the search icon to get the results. 

Step 2: Play the video

Scroll through the search results and click the video whose link you want to copy. The video will start playing at the top of your screen.

While playing the video, scroll down to the option before the comments and click on share. Under share, you get a list of ways to share the video. Select copy link to get the video link to your clipboard. You can paste it in another location by long-pressing the space where you want to paste it and clicking paste. 

You can copy a YouTube link on your iOS device using the YouTube app. If you don’t have the app, download it from the Apple Store, then follow these steps to copy the video link. 

Step 1: Open the video

Click on the YouTube app to open it and log in with your Google account’s email address and password to continue to your account. Type the name of the video you are looking for and tap the search icon to get it.

After locating the video, you want to share, click it to start playing.

Scroll down to the options below the video and select share. Under share, choose copy link, which is the first in the list. The link is copied to your clipboard, and you can paste it into a document or another app for sharing. 

When you copy a video link, the link will open from the beginning of the video. However, it is possible to copy a video link that opens from a specific part of a video. Unfortunately, this option is only available through the YouTube website and not the app. Follow these steps.

Log in to YouTube and search for the video you want to share. Click it among the search results to play it.

Pause the video at the point where you want the link to start. Right-click on the video and select copy video URL at the current time. The link is copied to your clipboard, and when somebody else opens it, it will play from where it was copied. 

You can also copy a link with a specific starting point by clicking the share option below the video, then check the box next to share at (the time when you clicked share). Click copy, which is next to the URL.

Sometimes, you may need to copy the link of an entire channel rather than just a single video, especially when you need to share your YouTube channel with somebody else. Here are the steps to follow. 

Step 1: Log in to your YouTube channel

Open your browser and search www.youtube.com. Sign in using the email address and password of the Google account you created for your channel. 

Step 2: Open YouTube studio

Click on your profile icon at the top right corner, and under that, select YouTube studio.

After opening YouTube studio, you open a new link with your Channel information. Scroll down among the options at the left sidebar menu and click customization.

Under customization, go to Basic info, which is the third tab. Scroll down until you come across the channel URL.

Under the channel URL, there is a field that contains the link to your channel. Select the link by dragging your cursor through it, then right-click and select copy. Alternatively, click on the copy icon to the right of the channel link. The copy icon is shown by two rectangles stacked on each other. 

You can also copy the link to your YouTube channel through the YouTube app. The process is the same for an iPhone or Android device. Here are the steps:

Click the YouTube app on your phone and enter your Google account details under your channel. Click on your profile photo, then select your channel. This will take you to your channel’s homepage.

On your channel’s homepage, you will see information about your channels, such as the number of videos and subscribers. Under that, you have More info and the URL to your channel.

Long press on your channel’s link under more info, which will prompt a new screen with sharing options. Click on copy link, which is the first option in the list. You have copied the channel’s link and can paste it elsewhere to save or share.
