Security is important on the web, especially when using social media platforms like Twitter. Most of the features that help keep your online identity safe are in one section, and that’s where you’ll go to change your security and account access settings on Twitter.
How to Access Security and Account Access Settings on Twitter
To find the section in your account settings where you can change your security and account access settings, go to the Settings menu on your account. You can get there by selecting the Profile icon on the app or by choosing More if you log in using Twitter’s website. From there, select Settings and Support > Settings and Privacy, and you’ll see the option for this section.

How to Change Security Settings on Twitter
The first section to visit is Security, where you can set up 2FA on your Twitter account to add an additional layer of protection. 2FA or two-factor authorization is a popular option for security with online apps and websites.
While it does require some additional steps to set up, Twitter will walk you through the process using text messages, a security key, or an authentication app.

You can also set Password Reset Protection from this section. Selecting this box will add another security step to your account when you try to change your password.
When turned on, any time you attempt a password reset, you’ll have to enter the email or phone number tied to your Twitter account to complete the process.

How to Change Apps and Sessions Settings on Twitter
One of the perks of Twitter is that it allows you to connect your account seamlessly to other platforms. This is where the Apps and Sessions settings come into play. It’s also an area that may not be of much interest if you’ve just set up your Twitter account.

Whenever you access the Sessions tab from your smartphone or a PC, it will show you any “current” active Twitter sessions on your account. You can deactivate a device or session from here by choosing Log out of other sessions. Connected apps show any third-party apps you’ve given access to your account.

Think you’ve had unauthorized activity on your Twitter account? You can check to see the IP address and location of when your account has been accessed through the Account Access History section.
If you have a half-dozen devices you’ve used or authorized Twitter on, you can get a better idea of those by looking through Logged-in devices and apps.

How to Change Connected Accounts Settings on Twitter
The last area you can alter under your Security and Account Access settings on Twitter is Connected Accounts. It’s also something that can be somewhat confusing as well. Considering it doesn’t deal with connected apps or platforms where you show off Twitter posts.
There is only one setting in this section. It shows any “social” accounts you’ve connected to Twitter that you use to log in. In this case, you can see our Twitter account linked to our Google account. The options could vary between Google, Apple, or another provider, but you can disconnect them from here.
