Instagram has a pretty extensive and comprehensive settings menu built into the platform, but like many things in the digital world, it’s confusing! Understanding which menu has what can be a lot, especially if you just want to make a small or simple change. Today, we are going to be taking a deep dive into one specific segment of Instagram’s settings: the business settings.
Here’s how to change your business settings on Instagram!
3 Steps to Change Your Business Settings on Instagram
Here’s our quick guide to accessing the Business Settings menu on Instagram. After the guide, there is a table that explains what each of the settings and options controls.
It’s important to note that different devices are always slightly variable regarding their menu settings and layout, but in general, things should be similar enough to figure it out. The only difference is if you are trying to access these settings on a browser, as that likely won’t work. Instagram’s browser platform doesn’t allow total control or access to all of the settings that their mobile platform (Android or iOS) does.
Step 1: Open the app and tap the profile icon in the corner
Open the Instagram app on your device and tap the profile icon located in the bottom right corner of the screen. This will take you to your profile page, where you will see your current feed posts and what other people see when they click on your profile.

Step 2: Select the profile menu in the top right and select “Settings”
Once you are on your profile page, locate the profile menu icon in the top right corner of the screen (it is three horizontal lines stacked on top of each other, referred to as a hamburger menu). Tap this icon to open the profile menu. From there, tap on Settings to access the settings page for your account.

Step 3: Select the Business Settings page
From the settings page, you will see several options to choose from. Scroll down the page and find the option labeled Business Settings. Select this option to open the business settings page. This page will allow you to adjust settings related to your account’s monetization and shopping features, such as switching to a business profile or linking a Facebook page.
Important Note: Please keep in mind that if you do not have a business profile, you may not have the option to access Business Settings, or you are not yet eligible to get monetization on your Instagram account. Thankfully, it’s pretty easy to set up your account for business, even if you don’t necessarily plan on running a business out of it. To do that, just go to the Account Settings menu instead of the Business Settings page, switch to a professional account, and then follow the instructions.
