5 Steps to Change Your Ad Payment Settings on Instagram
As a quick note, the platform being used to access Instagram could potentially change these steps. These steps are for the mobile platforms that are available on iOS and Android. The web browser will either have different steps, or these options are just not available at all. Also, only business accounts can run ads, therefore you will not see all of these settings on a regular user account.
Step 1: Open the Instagram App and Select Your Profile

Go ahead and open Instagram up on your mobile device by tapping the app icon. Once the app is open, navigate to your profile page by tapping the profile picture in the bottom right corner of the screen. From here, your most recent photos and your public profile view should be in sight.
Step 2: Tap the Menu Icon in the Top Right Corner and Select Settings

From your profile page, select the three-lined menu (known as a hamburger menu) in the top right corner of the screen. From here, select the menu option labeled Settings, which is usually accompanied by a gear icon.
Step 3: Select the Business Menu and Select the Ad Payments Option

Once you are in your profile settings menu, the various options should be displayed in front of you. We are looking for an option labeled “Business” accompanied by a small storefront symbol to the left. If you are having trouble locating this option, typing “Ad payments” into the search bar at the top of the settings menu and selecting the self-titled option is also a viable method.
Step 4: Connect Accounts (If Needed) and Select Payment Methods

If you have never connected your Instagram business account to the Meta accounts manager, moving into this menu will likely prompt a pop-up window where you can quickly connect your Instagram account to your overall Meta account manager. Once this is done, you can then see a single option labeled Payment methods.
Step 5: Add a Payment Method

---|---|
Your Account | Allows you to select which account you would like to edit, specifically regarding the payment options for each account. |

Your Account
Using the new Meta accounts manager, users are able to access up to three different ad accounts. This page allows you to select which account you would like to edit, specifically regarding the payment options for each account. More detailed account information, like ad campaigns, must be done through a separate app altogether.
Current Balance
Visit the Current Balance section to see how much money you currently have available on your ad account.
Payment Methods/Add Payment Method
This section shows the current payment methods available to the currently selected ad account. If there are multiple accounts, you can select a preferred payment method as the default method from this section. Additionally, you can add new payment methods via this menu.
Payment Threshold
A payment threshold is a feature that allows Instagram to charge your card once it reaches a certain threshold of ad spending. For example, a payment threshold of $250 would trigger a charge on the listed card once ad spending reached $250, resetting the amount each time. This is useful for people who budget certain amounts for ad spending each month and want to be charged something repeatable. This threshold isn’t timing-based, however, and could be triggered repeatedly if the threshold is hit repeatedly.
Account Spending Limit
The account spending limit is simply a limit that can be set on a business account that stops ads from spending over a certain amount. This is useful for ads that are variable or run for long periods of time.
Payment Activity
Payment activity shows a history of all payment activity for a certain account, similar to a live statement for a credit or debit card.
Business Info
This is a menu to update the business info, including things like addresses, phone numbers, and more.
