YouTube Premium is an excellent subscription service for those looking for ad-free watching and the option to download videos for offline watching. Like other paid-for streaming service, YouTube Premium offers the option to cancel their plans. You can terminate your plan if you’re unhappy with their offerings. Wondering how to go about it? Our simple guide will show you how to cancel YouTube Premium membership in minutes.
1. Click on Your Profile Picture
Select your profile picture in the top right corner of YouTube on a desktop web browser. This will bring up a dropdown menu, and from there, select Purchases and Memberships.
2. Manage Membership
This will bring up a page with your previous purchases on YouTube and your memberships. Click on Manage Memberships by the membership you want to cancel.
3. Select Deactivate
After clicking on Manage Membership, a menu will drop down. Here you can see when your membership renews and your payment info. Click on Deactivate to cancel your membership.
4. Continue to cancel
Once you click on Deactivate, there will be a window that pops up to confirm you actually want to cancel your account. In this window, select Continue to Cancel.
The other option in this window is Pause Instead. This allows you to pause your membership for up to 6 months and pick it up when you are ready.
5. Select reason for canceling
If you click on Continue to Cancel, a window will come up asking for the reason you are canceling your membership. Click on the response that is most appropriate for you.
Another window will come up at this point, confirming again that you want to cancel your membership. Click on Next to continue the process.
6. Cancel Premium
Finally, a window will come up that says. “We’re sorry to see you go.” In this window, select the blue Cancel Premium.
Congratulations, you have canceled your YouTube Premium account. After completing this, it will take you back to the Manage Membership page we started on. Here it will let you know how much longer you can access YouTube Premium benefits. Typically, you have a month after you cancel your subscription to enjoy the added features.
