How to Cancel Xfinity in 3 Easy Steps (With Photos)

Xfinity is no exception. There’s just one problem, though; they don’t make it easy to cut the cord. Thankfully, we know exactly how how to cancel Xfinity.

It makes sense why Xfinity wouldn’t want to make this cancelation process an easy one. It’s not like they want the glowing red exit signs to be displayed prominently. After all, your subscription is their livelihood.

Alas, if you’re not pleased with your service (or simply want to cut costs and think your TV plan is the place to start), you deserve to know how to cancel Xfinity simply and easily. Downgrading to a Different Xfinity TV Plan

Before discussing how to cancel Xfinity, it’s worth considering simply downgrading your plan to a more affordable or sensible option. This is sometimes the best path for those who are satisfied with Xfinity overall but simply can’t afford their current plan. Presently, Xfinity has two primary TV plans: Xfinity X1 and Xfinity Flex.

Xfinity X1 has three different paid tiers: Choice TV, Popular TV, and Ultimate TV. Choice TV comes with 10 channels and costs around $20 a month. Popular TV comes with 125 channels and costs about $60 a month. Ultimate TV comes with 185 channels and costs around $80 a month.

Exact prices will vary depending on region and other factors. You can also add à la carte channels for additional fees. Xfinity Flex, on the other hand, is available for free for Xfinity internet subscribers.

It’s a 4K streaming box that gives you access to all your favorite streaming services and apps (kind of like a Roku or an Apple TV, really). Downgrading your X1 plan or simply opting for a Flexbox might be better than canceling your Xfinity subscription altogether.

How to Cancel Xfinity

Of course, you don’t have to downgrade if you don’t want to. You’re more than welcome to leave Xfinity altogether. While they might not want to publicize this fact, knowing how to cancel Xfinity TV is a lot easier than you’d think.

As a matter of fact, it’ll only take a few easy steps until you’re free. To begin, you’ll want to be on a desktop or laptop computer. Results and steps may vary on mobile.

Step 1: Go to Xfinity’s Site

As you might have expected, the first step to canceling your Xfinity service is heading to Xfinity’s site. Scroll all the way down until you see My Xfinity listed in the columns at the bottom of the page. Click this, at which point you’ll be taken to the My Xfinity homepage. From here, click Support.

Step 2: Go to Account Management

Next, scroll down until you see a heading titled Account Management. Click this, then click Equipment and Services. From this tab, select the top article: “How to Change, Move, or Cancel Your Xfinity Services.” This is where you’ll find the helpful link required for the next — and final — step in the Xfinity cancelation process.

Step 3: Cancel Your Xfinity Service

Now that you’re on the cancelation page, you’ll once again need to scroll to the bottom until you see the heading titled “Looking to Cancel Your Xfinity Account?”

Here, Xfinity gives you several different ways to cancel your service. You can schedule a call with Xfinity to cancel over the phone. You can cancel via online chat. You can mail in a cancelation form at the address provided, or you can fill out the cancelation form online. You can even go into your local Xfinity Store if you live close to one.

In our experience, we’ve found that it’s easiest to fill out the cancelation form. Scheduling a call or utilizing the online chat can take quite some time, and mailing in the form or going into the store can take just as long. When you fill out the cancelation form online, you simply have to provide the necessary information and wait for Xfinity to get back to you in about 48 hours or so.

Whether you’re cancelling for financial reasons or because you’ve found a provider your prefer more, with the steps above you’re now able to cancel your Xfinity account. Bonus: How to Cancel Xfinity While Under Contract

If you’re under contract with Xfinity, you might be wondering if you’re even able to cancel your service in the first place. This is a common issue with many TV providers, not just Xfinity.

Not only do you have to cancel, but you also have to get out of the contract you signed. In Xfinity’s case, getting out of a legal contract will require paying a cancelation fee. Thankfully, it’s nothing too astronomical.

Typically, it only comes to about $10 per every month remaining on your contract. (For instance, if you’ve got three months left, that’s just $30 in cancelation fees.) This is a headache, to be sure, but think of it this way; it’s probably going to be cheaper than your monthly bill would have been if you stayed.
