What You Should Know Before Cancelling Spotify Premium
Spotify Premium membership offers various benefits, including ad-free listening, unlimited skips, and offline listening. If you’re unsure whether Spotify Premium is worth the money, here’s what you need to know about canceling your membership.
- You may cancel your Spotify Premium membership at any time.
- If you cancel your membership, you will lose access to the Spotify Premium features and benefits you enjoyed. Your account will remain Premium until the end of your billing cycle. After that, your account will be switched to the free version automatically.
- Spotify will not charge you again if you cancel, but you will not be eligible for a rebate or refund. Spotify Premium will also remain accessible to you for the remainder of your membership term. After that, you will no longer be able to listen to ad-free music or take advantage of Spotify Premium’s other features and benefits.
3 Steps to Cancel Spotify Premium
If you’re using Spotify Premium, here’s how to cancel your subscription and stop paying for it.
Step 1: Sign Into Your Spotify Account
You’ll first want to sign into your Spotify account to cancel your Premium subscription. You can do this on the desktop version of the website by going to the Spotify website. Alternatively, you can use the mobile app or tablet device to sign in by following the same steps above.
In the top right corner of the homepage, you’ll see a button labeled Log in. Click on it.
A window will open up asking for your username and password.
If you have multiple devices connected to the same account, Spotify will ask which one you’d like to use for this session. You can choose any of them at this point.
Step 2: Go to Your Account Settings
After you log in to Spotify, click your profile icon at the top right corner of the page. You’ll see a drop-down menu. Select Account. This will redirect you to a new page.
This will bring you to your Account Settings page, where you can view and edit your information, change your password, and more.
Look for “Available Plans” on the left sidebar and click it. This will take you to a page where you can cancel your subscription.
Step 3: Cancel Your Premium Membership
In this section of Account Settings, you’ll see all of your premium membership information — including when it’s set to expire and how much you’ve paid thus far. Click on Cancel Premium at the bottom of the page if you want to cancel immediately.
This will take you to a page where you can cancel your subscription.
Fill in the boxes with your name and billing address, then click Cancel Subscription at the bottom right corner of the box. Finalize everything by clicking Yes, Cancel.

What Happens to My Account When I Cancel Spotify Premium?
Your account will remain active until the end of your billing period. Suppose you’ve paid for your subscription in advance. In that case, you’ll have access to Spotify Premium until the end of that billing period. After that, you’ll no longer be able to use Spotify Premium features like listening offline and ad-free music streaming.
Once your subscription expires, any remaining premium playlists and albums will be automatically deleted from your account.
