How to Cancel Paramount Plus on Amazon in 2 Easy Steps (With Photos)

While Amazon Prime is a streaming service in and of itself, Amazon also gives Prime subscribers the ability to add additional rival streamers to their Prime subscription at an additional cost via Prime Video Channels. These include Starz, Showtime, AMC Plus, and, of course, Paramount Plus.

Though this bonus feature does make streaming easier by centralizing several services into one convenient location, it can also make it difficult to pick and choose which streaming channels to keep. That’s why it’s worth knowing how to cancel Paramount Plus on Amazon.

Why Keep Paramount Plus on Amazon?

There’s undoubtedly a lot of great stuff on Paramount Plus. From newly released films such as Orphan: First Kill (2022) and The Lost City (2022) to classics such as Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) and Top Gun (1986), Paramount Plus’s movie library is stuffed to the gills with must-watch titles.

Same for the subscription service’s TV slate, which includes a slew of classic and original series alike from CBS to Nickelodeon to MTV to Paramount Plus itself. In other words, it’s another solid contender alongside the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney Plus, HBO Max, and so on.

With that being said, the true cost of streaming services can add up quite fast. From Netflix at $20 a month to HBO Max and Amazon Prime at $15 each, some can only afford to subscribe to a few streaming services to stay within budget.

Before you learn how to cancel Paramount Plus on Amazon, consider these advantages to keeping your subscription active.

Firstly, there’s the sheer number of television shows available to you. The complete Star Trek franchise resides on Paramount Plus, including new Star Trek shows exclusive to Paramount Plus such as Star Trek: Picard (2020), Star Trek: Discovery (2017), and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022). Paramount Plus also has all of NCIS (2003 – Current), all the CSI franchises, and even a suite of Showtime original series, as well. There are even classic comedies such as I Love Lucy (1951-1957) and Cheers (1982-1993).

Secondly, there’s the Paramount Plus film library. Classic Westerns from the Golden Age of Hollywood, new action movie franchises such as Transformers and Mission: Impossible, iconic comedies like Mean Girls (2004) and Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989), and even award-winning documentaries and family-friendly features.

How to Cancel Paramount Plus on Amazon

If you subscribed via Amazon, here’s how to cancel Paramount Plus. These steps differ from the ones you’ll need to take if you subscribed to Paramount Plus traditionally through the Paramount Plus site. Also, for best results, cancel using a desktop computer instead of a mobile device or smart TV.

Step One: Go to Your Amazon Prime Account Settings

First, you need to navigate to your Amazon Prime account. To do this, go to Amazon’s site and select Prime Video from the main menu on the left-hand side. From there, click Prime Video again. You’ll now be taken to the Amazon Prime Video homepage.

Once there, click the gear on the right-hand side. A drop-down menu will appear, at which point you’ll want to select Settings. You’ll then be greeted with a page that looks like the one above. Then, click Channels.

Note: You can also get to your memberships by hovering over the menu in the top right-hand corner of the Amazon homepage and moving your mouse down to tab: Your Memberships and Subscriptions. This is just another roundabout way of accomplishing the same thing as the steps above.

Step Two: Cancel Paramount Plus Channel

From here, click the Cancel Channel option next to Paramount Plus under Your Channels. You’ll be taken to the above screen, where you’ll be given three options to choose from: “Remind me 3 days before renewal,” “Turn off auto-renew,” and “Keep subscription.” While the last of these three is self-explanatory, the first two might need some elaboration.

Remind me 3 days before renewal will keep your Paramount Plus subscription active and make no changes to your plan. It will simply send you an email reminder about your upcoming billing date 72 hours prior to auto-renewing.

Turn off auto-renew will effectively cancel your subscription. Additionally, it will give you the ability to continue watching until the end of your subscription term. The last option, as you can assume, will do nothing. You’ll continue to pay a monthly subscription fee and your membership will remain intact.

If you’re looking to cancel, select either of the first two options. Your safest bet is the middle one of the three, Turn off auto-renew, as it will stop you from being charged again at the end of the term. Even with the first option’s 72-hour reminder, you might still forget to cancel and be left with another unwanted month of Paramount Plus.
