Key Points
- There are many great subscription services that can help with everyday life and work, but these costs can really add up when you don’t need them any more.
- Instead of canceling, there is an option to pause your subscription, which may be desirable during a break from school.
- As with any subscription, stopping or pausing may generate some “come back” offers from the company that may be enticing!
The end of a semester, a school year, or a degree program can bring many responsibilities and tasks. From signing up for next semester’s classes, sorting out financial aid and scholarships for next year, and figuring out what career path to head down after graduation, you wouldn’t be wrong to forget some of the little things. Take your Chegg subscription, for instance. How can you cancel a Chegg subscription easily? What are the steps you need to take?
No one wants to continue to pay for a Chegg subscription at the start of summer break when they won’t be studying anything for a few months. This is especially true if you’ve graduated and never need Chegg’s tools and study materials again. For this reason, we’ve outlined all the steps you need to take to cancel a Chegg subscription.

Cancel a Chegg Subscription
If you’d rather cancel a Chegg subscription altogether, that’s fine, too. There’s no need to pay for something you don’t need or don’t use enough to justify the monthly price. Follow these steps below, and you’ll soon be without a Chegg subscription. (If need be, you can always re-subscribe when the school year begins again.)
Step One: Sign Into Your Account

Go to the Chegg site on a desktop or laptop computer then sign into your Chegg account. After that, click on My Account in the upper righthand corner of the page.
Step Two: Go to Your Orders

Once on your account home page, you’ll see a variety of tabs at the top to choose from. Look for the one titled, Orders. Here, you’ll see a summary of all your Chegg orders and your payment history over your account. Scroll down until you see a heading titled Subscriptions. Your Chegg Study or Chegg Study Pack subscription details will be found here.
Step Three: Cancel Your Chegg Subscription

At last, the final step: Canceling your Chegg subscription for good. Within your subscription details, under the Subscriptions heading, look for the button that says Cancel Subscription. Once you click this, you’ll be taken to a page asking you to explain why you’re leaving.
Be sure to confirm you want to cancel and the reason for doing so. Otherwise, you’ll still be a subscriber to Chegg. You’ll still have access to your tools and materials until the end of your billing period, at which point you will no longer be a Chegg subscriber. With this information and the steps above, you will have successfully cancelled your Chegg subscription. If you’d like a step-by-step guide on how to complete these helpful steps, we found the perfect video on YouTube.
Bonus: Pause a Chegg Subscription
On the Orders page, under the Subscriptions heading, you might have noticed the option to Pause your account instead of canceling. This is another option besides downgrading or outright canceling. It can be a particularly good move for those between semesters or school years who still plan on being Chegg subscribers but won’t need access to the tools and materials that come with the subscription for one to three months or so.
To pause, click the Pause button and select the length of time you’d like to pause. Chegg typically gives you the ability to pause for up to six months. Any longer, and you’ll have to cancel your subscription outright. Pausing allows you to retain all your account details and payment info until you’re ready to resume your subscription again. Your subscription will be automatically resumed at the end of the period you set at the time of pausing.
