Threads is Meta’s latest social media platform, and new users are flocking to it. Once you signup, you will undoubtedly want to add friends to see what they are posting. The problem is that it can be difficult and time-consuming to search for all of your friends individually.
Fortunately, Threads remedied this problem by allowing users to pull their following list directly from Instagram. Additionally, you can also search for individuals and accounts and follow them only on the Threads app or remove people you follow on Instagram from Threads. Now, let’s add some friends on Threads!
How Does Adding Friends Work on Threads
Before we get into the steps of adding friends on Threads, it is worth looking at how Threads compares with other platforms. Firstly, Threads works very similarly to Twitter and Instagram when it comes to adding friends. You can follow anyone you want, but private accounts will need to approve your request before you can see their content.
This starkly contrasts with other platforms like Facebook, which requires one user to send a request and the other to accept the request for a mutual friendship. As with Instagram, on Threads, you can follow someone without them having to follow you back.
Add Friends to Threads
Adding friends on Threads takes seven easy steps. Whether you want to connect with old friends, or follow a local business, just locate a profile and click the “Follow” button. However, we will also cover a faster way to add lots of existing friends by pulling them from your Instagram account.
Step 1: Open Threads
The first thing you must do to add friends on Threads is to open the app. Threads is not yet officially available on PCs or web browsers, so you must use the Threads app on a mobile device.

On the profile page, there is a number above the “Edit profile” button that displays the number of followers. These are all of the people who currently follow your account. Step 6: Add Instagram Followers
Now that you have a full list of Instagram followers, choose who you would like to add on Threads. Simply tap the “Follow” button on the right-hand side of the screen to add the account as a friend on Threads. Alternatively, you can select the “Follow all” button at the bottom of the screen to automatically follow everyone on the list.
Keep in mind that the accounts listed are all of your Instagram followers. Not everyone listed will be signed up for Threads. However, when they do sign up, you will automatically start seeing the content they post.

Followers vs. Following
A common question that comes up with sites that use followers, such as Threads, Twitter, and Instagram, is the difference between followers and following. A follower is an account that follows you, whereas following represents people you are following. For instance, increasing your followers means more people are following your account.
Deleting Friends on Threads
Sometimes you must unfollow a friend on Threads. Removing a follower is as easy as adding one. Navigate to that user’s profile and tap “Unfollow.” There is no easy way to unfollow accounts in bulk, but you can unfollow as many accounts as you wish. Remember that unfollowing someone on Threads means you cannot see their content, but they can still see yours if they follow you or your account is public.
Wrapping Up
Now that you know how to add friends on Threads, it is a good time to start posting. After adding followers, you are likely to start getting people following you back. Give them something to see by posting a photo or video. Don’t forget, you can also block people on Threads if you don’t want certain people to see your posted content.
