Apple’s Find My feature is the only way to find any of your Apple devices, including AirPods. But unlike the Watch, iPad, or iPhone, you can’t enable the AirPod’s Find My iPhone feature from the device. Instead, you’ll need to pair your AirPods with an iOS or macOS device first.

If you haven’t done so already, make sure your AirPods are paired with an Apple device that is attached to your iCloud account. Go to the Bluetooth settings and look for your AirPods in the device list.

Helpful Hint: Tap the i icon to the right of your AirPods and change the name. This step makes it easier to find on your iCloud or the Find My application.

Step 2: Open the Settings on Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch

Find My lets you play a sound to locate a lost bud or see the location where you left them, and it’s incredibly easy to add your AirPods to Find My iPhone. Then, you can keep up with your tiny but valuable AirPods a little easier.

How to Add AirPods to Find My iPhone FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Can I track my AirPods using Find My iPhone?

The answer to this question depends on which model AirPods you have and if you’ve set up Find My iPhone. Assuming you’ve completed the steps above, you can track your AirPods on the map as long as they are charged and in range of a nearby device.

If your AirPods aren’t showing up, but you know they have a good charge, it’s a good idea to take their companion device and retrace your steps. When your iPhone or iPad is in range of the buds, they’ll appear on the map.

Can I blocklist stolen AirPods?

Unfortunately, no. The AirPods aren’t connected directly to your iCloud account. If someone else takes your AirPods, they can easily pair them to their own Apple device, and you won’t see them on your map anymore.

What do I do if I lose my AirPods?

In the unfortunate event that you lose your AirPods, there isn’t much you can do to retrieve them aside from tracking them via Find My iPhone.

However, you can order replacement parts from Apple if all hope is lost. For example, if you lose one AirPods, you can order a new one.

Why does Find My iPhone say "No location found?"

If you see the dreaded “No location found” status under your AirPods in Find My, it’s because your AirPods aren’t sending a signal.

This message appears when your iCloud account can’t track the headphones because they aren’t charged or are too far away from another one of your Apple Devices.
