How Much Money Every Rank in the Navy Makes in 2024

Curious about how much money every rank in the Navy makes, but have no idea where to find this sort of information for yourself? You’re far from the only one trying to find out. While there’s a natural curiosity to know how much it pays to be a part of the US Navy, it’s hard to know the difference between all those different classifications, pay grades, and pay ranges. There are well over a couple dozen in all, each with its own unique parameters. These differences have a direct impact on take-home pay.

In the Navy, how much money you make depends on your job and how high up you are in rank. (Think of a rank like a level, with each level bringing more pay as you move up.) Of course, as we mentioned, it’s about more than just rank. There’s also pay grade: a specific number that shows how experienced and important you are within your rank. Combine this with classifications, which vary from job to job within the US Navy, and it’s clear just how many different types of pay there are. Here’s how it all breaks down.
