Hallmark Channel Guide
Hallmark on DISH Network
The Hallmark Channel is older than many people realize and is commonly confused with networks like GAC or Lifetime. Those stations compete for some of the same audience, but nobody does the holidays like Hallmark. The greeting card giant has produced a popular anthology series since 1951, long before the network existed.
Launched in 1992, the scope of Hallmark Network has changed significantly over the years. Hallmark Media has produced hundreds of movies and operates two sister stations tied to Hallmark. You access all of the channels through a variety of means anywhere in the United States.
Hallmark on DISH Network is on channel 185 but is only available in select packages. The company’s entry-level America’s Top 120 Plus package does not include it. To get Hallmark TV, you’ll need to subscribe to the America’s Top 200 or Top 250 plans.
The channel is available through the company’s budget-friendly Flex Pack. You can also get Hallmark and two of their sister stations through DISH Network’s Heartland add-on package.
Unlike many channels today, Hallmark is known more for movies than TV shows. Most of their shows are syndicated, and the selection has varied wildly throughout the years. In the 2000s, it wasn’t unusual to find shows like JAG, Walker Texas Ranger, Matlock, and Bewitched. That’s not the case today, however.
When the schedule isn’t packed with holiday-themed content, you can catch reruns of Cheers, The Golden Girls, Reba, and Frasier. That could change over time, but their current programming is sparse with short-form content. Outside of syndicated shows, there are two series with The Way Home and When Calls the Heart.
While you can no longer watch the Kitten Bowl, which moved to GAC, there’s no shortage of movies. That includes long-running franchises like The Hallmark Hall of Fame series and their seasonal holiday blocks. October through December is dominated by Countdown to Christmas and Hallmark Miracles of Christmas. You can also watch Christmas-themed films in July because that’s how Hallmark gets down.
While we haven’t noticed an abundance of films set around Easter or Thanksgiving, Hallmark will air Christmas movies at the drop of a hat. In the spring and summer, you can also enjoy blocks of themed content. Summer Nights, Spring Into Love, and the aptly named Countdown to Summer are a few of their more popular staples.
Are you a fan of wedding season when love is in the air? If so, you’ll appreciate the June Weddings marathon. Love and light drama take Hallmark viewers through the first part of the year, followed by their seasonal content. That’s what you can find with Hallmark on DISH Network, although their sister stations provide a bit more flavor.
Hallmark Sister Stations
|Hallmark Movies & Mysteries
If you love Hallmark’s content but aren’t partial to films set around the holidays or love, their sister stations have more to offer. Hallmark Drama launched in 2017 as a home for detective and crime dramas.
At the moment, that includes syndicated shows like The Waltons, Magnum P.I., and Little House on the Prairie. You can access Hallmark Drama on channel 186 through DISH Network. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries takes a similar approach with content but with a focus on Hallmark Original films.
This channel is on 187 through DISH but is not available in the basic or flex plans. If you want to watch Hallmark Drama or Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, you need to subscribe to the America’s Top 200 or Top 250 plans. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is available in HD, but Hallmark Drama is listed as SD in DISH Network’s channel guide.
