Galaxy S22 vs. Galaxy Z Flip 4: What Is the Difference
S22 and Z Flip 4 from Samsung are arguably some of the best in the current market. Their features are top-ranked, but which one is the best galaxy gadget? Let’s find out below.
Design
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 can bend in half like a small mirror to consume less room. In addition to the frosted glass components on the upper and lower back covers, the design is largely unaltered from its forerunner, the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Moving pieces are, unfortunately, more vulnerable to wear and tear than stationary parts you get with the S22.
The Flip 4’s bendable display is inherently more fragile than a solid block like the S22. Moreover, the galaxy z flip 4 feels bigger and heavier than the Galaxy S22, but it still feels compact.
Display
The Galaxy S22’s 15.5 cm (6.1’) active matrix OLED 2X (2340 by 1080 ) pixel display is smaller than the Flip 4’s 17 cm (6.7) active matrix OLED 2X ( 2640 by 1080) pixel display. Central Processing Unit (CPU)
Galaxy Z Flip 4 and the Galaxy S22 came out in the same year. Both have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, but if you opt for the more expensive 512GB model, the Flip 4 has some advantages in terms of storage.
The Flip 4 runs on special software that provides additional features around the folding screen and small front display, such as user interface elements that move according to the screen’s position.
On the hardware front, the Flip 4 features the top-of-the-line Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, an overclocked and more efficient version of the regular 8 Gen 1. The Galaxy S22 is powered by an older Snapdragon 810 Gen 1, so the performance difference between the two devices isn’t huge.
Storage and RAM
The S22 and Flip 4 have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of base storage. If f you go for the more expensive 512GB model, the Flip 4 has slightly more storage, while the S22 only offers up to 256GB.
Both devices run on Android 12 with One UI 4.1 and will soon be upgraded to Android 13. So, no matter what device you use, your Samsung device will have the latest version of Android and all the software features you need.
Differences in synthetic benchmarks exist but are not significant. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 appears to have some heat flow control issues, especially during the benchmark stress test. Since both devices were released in the same year, you can expect them to be updated for a similar amount of time. By Samsung standards, this is four major Android updates and five years of security patches.
The Flip 4 has a few extra tricks due to design differences, so it’s not the same even if it runs the same OS. When using the flexible mode, apps automatically adjust to take up only half the screen. So UI elements are positioned according to the screen position, and any changes are displayed. Because of this additional functionality, the Flex software is slightly improved over the S22.
Camera Quality
Like its predecessor, the Flip 4 has two 12-megapixel cameras positioned on its back. There are two cameras: a primary wide-angle lens with Dual Pixel AF, optical image stabilization, an F1.8 aperture, and an ultra-wide lens, comparable to those on the S22 and Z Flip 3. The Z Flip 4 camera system is “lacking” compared to the Galaxy S22 because it does not have a telephoto lens.
The Galaxy S22, on the other hand, includes the previously stated telephoto lens in addition to the 50MP, f/1.8 number of pixels in its 1/1.55″ main sensor. Compared to earlier versions in the galaxy family, it has an ultra-wide camera with 12MP f/2.2 configuration. It has a 50 MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto lens, and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor in a triple camera array and optical zoom.
Charging and Battery Capacity
While the S22 and Flip 4 have 3,700mAh batteries, they have different runtimes. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has an extra 400mAh battery, which should help it offer better stamina than the Samsung Galaxy S22
This difference in battery life is likely due to the larger screen of the Flip 4, as well as its additional front screen. Both phones are nearly identical in charging specs and performance, with the S22 edging ahead by a nose due to its 15W wireless charging.

Samsung fine-tuned Z Flip 4’s display, but the variations between the foldable and the Galaxy S22 are negligible. The S22 handset, however, cannot fold, which is certainly the main appeal of the Z Flip 4. It’s tiny and unquestionably cool, especially if you create a lot of content on the move. Flip 4 is undoubtedly a more fascinating and innovative product, but it’s difficult to justify, given the high price and design compromises to accommodate a folding screen.
