10. Lightning Motorcycles – $5.3 million

Lightning Motorcycles is an American company founded in 2006, with its headquarters in San Carlos, California. The founder, Richard Hatfield, was inspired to manufacture electric motorbikes after participating in a race that utilized electric Porsche bikes.   

Initially, Lighting Motorcycles experimented with other motorcycles on the market before commencing their research and development for new product lines. For example, in 2006, they experimented on the Yamaha R1, as they studied the mechanisms and potential of EV motorcycles.

The company’s most notable electric bike is the LS-218, one of the fastest motorcycles ever released. It has a top speed of 218mph and a horsepower of 200hp. The bikes come with different battery packs, which vary with the price.

For instance, you can get the LS-218 with a 20kWh or 15kWh battery capacity, giving you a range of 160 to 180 miles and 120 to 150 miles, respectively. The bikes are compatible with either DC fast chargers or Level 2 chargers that refill an empty battery in 30 minutes and 120 minutes, respectively.

Lightning Motorcycles also manufactures Strike Carbon, a cheaper alternative to the LS-218. The bike has a maximum speed of 150mph and a 20kWh battery that provides a range of 200 miles.

9. Pursang Motorcycles – $7.7 million

Although Pursang Motorcycles has been operational for a few years, with few products on the market, it has built a name for itself in the EV motorcycle industry. Founded in 2018 by Jim Palau-Ribes, the company has its headquarters in Barcelona, Spain, where most of its operations are based.

It manufactures electric motorcycles intending to contribute to a green future while providing its clients with aesthetically pleasing EVs without compromising performance. The Pursang E-Track, the company’s best-selling motorcycle, is evidence of its research and development efforts.

It conceptualizes what electric motorcycle lovers need, with an elegant appeal and features that make it perfect for commuting diverse terrain. The E-track runs on an 11kW Bosch engine powered by three 48V batteries, giving it a power capacity of 7.2kW and a range of 80 miles. With a top speed of 66mph, the bike is not the fastest in the world but still does considerably well. 

The E-Track’s great features and popularity in the market have undoubtedly contributed to Pursang Motorcycle’s sales and accompanying success. Currently, the company is one of the largest EV motorcycle companies in the world, with an estimated annual revenue of $7 million. 

8. Stealth Electric Bikes – $9.7 million

Stealth Electric Bikes is an Australian-based company with over a decade of experience in engineering and designing electric bikes. The company was founded in 2008 by Australian engineer John Karambalis and traded in a range of products to provide green mobility solutions. 

While the company is majorly known for manufacturing and assembling electric motorcycles and bikes, part of its business is centered on designing and manufacturing military equipment and gadgets. Interestingly, the military aspect of Stealth Electric Bikes was the company’s initial inspiration. 

Nonetheless, Stealth Electric Bikes offers nothing short of quality products when it comes to electric motorcycles. The company is renowned for designing, manufacturing, and assembling powerful, agile, sleek dirt bikes. 

The unique bike designs and military expeditions contributed immensely to Stealth Electric Bikes’ profits. At the end of the 2022 calendar year, the company registered a revenue of $9.7 million, earning its place among the largest EV motorcycle companies. 

7. Verge Motorcycles – $10.2 million

Verge Motorcycles was founded in 2018, with its headquarters in Tallinn, Estonia. The company specializes in manufacturing electric motorcycles in support of the zero-emission campaign. The TS Ultra electric sports bike is the company’s most recent motorcycle.

It has a torque of 1200NM and a power output of 150KW. It also has a maximum speed of 124mph and accelerates from 0 to 60mph in 2.5 seconds. Verge Motorcycles also manufactures the TS Pro, a sports bike with a 1000NM torque and a power output of 102KW.

The EV motorcycle has a top speed of 124mph and accelerates from 0 to 60mph in 3.5 seconds. The last EV motorcycle manufactured by Verge Motorcycles is the TS. This is their first EV motorcycle, which has a 700NM torque and an 80KW power output.

The motorcycle also has a 112mph top speed and accelerates from 0 to 60mph in 4.5 seconds. Verge Motorcycles sells these three motorcycles globally, contributing to its $10.2 million annual revenue.

6. Damon Motorcycles – $27.4 million

Founded in 2017 by Jay Giraud and Dom Kwong, Damon Motors is a global company aimed at improving urban mobility. With its offices in San Rafael, California, and headquarters in Vancouver, Canada — where manufacturing and assembly are done — the enterprise is known for releasing state-of-the-art EV motorcycles.

5. Energica Motor Company – $33.7 million

Ushering us to the top five EV motorcycle manufacturers is Energica Motor Company, an Italian enterprise leading in the manufacture of electric motorcycles and integration of EV systems.

The Modena-based enterprise was conceptualized in 2010 and officially founded in 2014 by CRP Group, a global company dealing in additive manufacturing and a pioneer in international motorsports. 

With such a background and apt funding, Energica Motor Company had a solid foundation to kick-start its business in the EV motorcycle world. In 2010, the company began manufacturing by designing and assembling the e-CRP, an electric racing motorbike. The bike did phenomenally and ended up as the runner-up World Champion in 2011. 

Since then, the company has been manufacturing sleek EV motorcycles tailored for speed. They mainly produce racing motorcycles, with one of their most famous releases, the Ego, used by teams in the MotoETM World Cup.

Energica Motor Company has also recently ventured into manufacturing commercial electric vehicles to create a green future. The ventures have borne fruit as Energica Motor Company keeps registering high annual revenues estimated at $33.7 million. 

4. LiveWire – $35.8 million

LiveWire was a subsidiary of Harley-Davidson before it became independent in 2021. The company first came into the limelight in 2014 when Harley-Davidson started testing its electric motorcycle prototypes.

The LiveWire One is the company’s most popular electric motorcycle. It has a 15.4kWh battery, giving you a range of 146 miles. Harley-Davidson LiveWire is the company’s best-selling EV motorcycle. It has a top speed of 110mph and accelerates from 0 to 60 in three seconds. It also has a battery capacity of 15.4kWh. Harley Davidson claims that the battery capacity guarantees a range of 146 miles when riding in the city and 70 miles on highways. 

Besides EV motorcycles, Harley Davidson manufactures electric mountain bikes and electric balance bikes, which contribute to its revenue. Ultimately, Harley Davidson’s catalog contributes to the company’s $4.54 billion annual revenue.
