Yet, it is often challenging to decide between their dozens of models. Eufy vs. Roomba: What’s the Difference?
Eufy and Roomba impress with advanced technologies and cleaning features that other brands often miss. The former rocked the robotic vacuum market when it unveiled the first Twin Turbine suction system installed in a robovac at CES Innovation Awards 2021.
Anker received the Honoree title again at CES 2023 for a variety of innovative products, including the Eufy Clean X9 Pro, which will be released on the market later this year.
Meanwhile, Roomba has earned a name for itself with its cleaning efficiency, mapping accuracy, and a bunch of other features designed to make your life easier. Here are a few things to consider before choosing one over the other.
Roomba and Eufy’s series of robovacs address home users tired of sweeping – and mopping – floors. Each brand offers a bountiful range of robotic vacuums, but Eufy has the upper hand.
Currently, the brand features four product lines with about 28 robotic vacuums available on the market. Its top-of-the-range is the Eufy Robovac X8, available in standard and hybrid versions. The hybrid version has the same essential features, but it also mops the floors. Both the standard and the hybrid versions of the X8 come in white and black and at a price that won’t break the bank.
Those with a lower budget can still find trustworthy models in the brand’s L, G, or Bounce Series. Beyond more affordable models, such as the acclaimed 11S Max, these lines also include self-emptying models like the Eufy Clean G40 Hybrid. Eufy also offers plenty of options in the robotic vacuum and mop range.
Meanwhile, iRobot only offers one hybrid robotic vacuum cleaner and mop at the moment, the Roomba Combo j7+. The range of standard robotic vacuums is also more limited, counting under 10 products. This could be due to iRobot’s habit of discontinuing old products soon after the launch of new models.
In fact, the only basic option is the Roomba 694 Robotic Vacuum, a simple robovac released in 2020. The mid-range category includes models with or without self-emptying functions, while the most sought-after model, the Roomba S9+, features self-emptying and a sophisticated design that increases cleaning efficiency in corners.
Design and Cleaning Power
Design-wise, Eufy keeps to the classic round robotic vacuum. All models look similar, and this could make things confusing when deciding which to buy. That’s because, beyond appearance, each line features unique characteristics and different technologies.
Some of the simplest models in the Bounce Series, for instance, don’t work with smart home devices like Google Home or Alexa. They don’t feature Wi-Fi connectivity, either, and don’t come with boundary strips, which means that you can’t set no-go zones. Yet, if you live in a small home and don’t need all the bells and whistles, buying one of these robots can save you some cash.
Top-tier models included in the L and X Series, on the other hand, feature a bunch of new features and technologies. They offer cleaning power up to 3,000Pa – even though the X8 model only boasts 2,000Pa of suction power. This suction is strong enough to get rid of most messes – including pet hair – but if that’s not enough and you don’t mind waiting, the Eufy X9 promises around 5,500Pa.
For a long time, Roomba has also kept to the classic, round robotic vacuum style. However, their latest model features an updated look with one square side. Its purpose is a better reach and improved cleaning in the corners, and the robovac delivers.
It efficiently reaches corners that round robovacs can’t tackle. This function delivers a better cleaning efficiency overall, despite the fact that the actual suction power is lower than on the Eufy.
Mapping and Navigation
Beyond suction power, what makes or breaks a robotic vacuum is its ability to map and navigate the house. And while both Eufy and Roomba feature smart mapping systems and seamless navigation, the latter is a bit better at it.
The latest models from Eufy feature multi-floor mapping with AI. Map technology, an AI-aided system that enables you to select particular areas for zone cleaning, set no-go zones in areas where you don’t want the robot to go, or send the robot to a certain spot for target cleaning. The robot is easy to command from a distance via its proprietary app, or you can give it voice commands via Google Home or Alexa.
For enhanced navigation, Eufy equips its robotic vacuums with Laser SLAM technology that allegedly enables the robot to avoid obstacles in real-time. However, this feature doesn’t always work in real life, so you might want to keep an eye on the machine until it truly knows your home.
Roomba also uses AI to learn your home, but it takes smart mapping to a whole new level. This robotic vacuum can map each individual room (not only different floors), adjust the suction for each room based on the floor surface, arrange for spot cleanings on its own, and avoid no-go zones.
3D sensors also make navigation smoother, and the robot does an excellent job of avoiding obstacles that are at least 2.5cm (about one inch) tall. Similarly to the Eufy, Roomba robotic vacuums can be controlled via the proprietary app, Google Home, or Alexa.
Another area where Roomba shines is battery life. These robots provide up to 225 minutes of cleaning divided into three separate cycles. This is possible thanks to the auto-charge feature that sends the robot to its base and enables it to resume cleaning once it’s charged.
Eufy has a good battery life, too, providing around 208 minutes of cleaning. However, if you have a big house, those extra 17 minutes from Roomba can make a difference.
As you’d expect from a brand awarded the Honoree title at CES Innovation Awards on two separate occasions, Eufy packs its robotic vacuums with a bunch of innovative features and technologies. One of these is the BoostIQ which allows the vacuum to adjust suction power based on the surface.
However, the most acclaimed feature is the Twin Turbine. This technology increases suction power and airflow, enhancing the robot’s efficiency. The difference is mostly visible in households with pets, where Eufy X Series models do an excellent job of removing tufts of hair off the floors.
The secret to better cleaning is the double turbine that doubles the suction power. In fact, the robovac has two turbines, each rated at 2,000Pa. This translates into a total suction power of 4,000Pa when the function is on — but you’ll have to expect a fast depletion of the battery.

Another special feature closely related to the Twin Turbine is the UltraPack Dust Compression. The sheer suction power compresses the dust in the robot’s tank, making it possible to clean a larger surface before needing emptying.
Roomba doesn’t give its special features fancy names, but it packs loads of them. Top-of-the-range models feature plenty of suction power that can remove messes from all surfaces, but also specialized corner cleaning.
The robot moves in neat rows, which is a great improvement compared to most competitors. PrecisionVision navigation on selected models enables the robot to avoid non-mapped obstacles, such as pet messes or power cords.
Another highlight is the Dirt Detect technology that enables the unit to detect and clean dirtier spots more thoroughly and without any intervention from your side. That’s not it, as Roomba robotic vacuums are also capable of learning your cleaning habits and suggesting seasonal and personalized cleaning schedules.
Roomba features more technologies than Eufy and does a better cleaning job. So, it doesn’t come as a surprise that it’s more expensive. High-end models like the S9+ and j7+ cost over $900. Prices are expected to go down as new models are released, but new releases mean that these models will likely be discontinued.
Eufy is a lot cheaper, with its top-end models costing about half the price of a Roomba. Mid-range models are even more affordable, with satisfactory options costing under $400. Sure, a basic Roomba is one of the cheapest options, but you shouldn’t have high expectations for it.

Eufy vs. Roomba: Which One Is Better? Which One Should You Use?
Eufy and Roomba both manufacture high-end robotic vacuums, but if you want outstanding cleaning efficiency, you should opt for the latter. Roomba’s robovacs are more efficient at removing messes from corners, they navigate the area in straight rows for improved cleaning efficiency, and they have a longer battery life.
They also incorporate unique technologies, such as spot cleaning based on ad-hoc messes. Models with a cam can avoid non-mapped obstacles, while the robot can even make personalized suggestions based on your cleaning habits.
All these features can make your job a lot easier and also make a difference in households with pets, small kids, or people with allergies. The newest models feature automatic docking, self-charging, and self-emptying and can be controlled through an app or smart home device.
Eufy is a better choice if you want a good robotic vacuum but don’t want to break the bank. While you won’t get personalized cleaning schedules and automatic spot cleaning, these devices do a good job and are easy to control. In the end, it all comes down to your preference.
The Future of Eufy and Roomba Vacuums
As both of these brands continue to improve their vacuum technologies, we may see further updates. In the following six to 18 months, we could see the following:
