What was once seen as a utility vehicle for working Americans is now seen as a status symbol. But pinpointing the most expensive trucks on the market today is actually harder than you may think.
To help narrow down the search, we set some parameters, such as only looking at major auto manufacturers. In addition, we are specifically looking at the MSRP of factory models. This means leaving out dealer upgrades. Below, you will find five of the most expensive trucks on the market for the 2023 model year.
5. 2023 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate $82,940

GMC makes some of the most appealing GM vehicles outside of Cadillac, and its Denali trim line is certainly the pinnacle. But in recent years, GMC came out with the even more luxurious Denali Ultimate. This trim level comes with every premium feature that GMC has to offer. From the grill and exterior moldings to the lavish interior, this is one of the best trucks money can buy.
The Denali Ultimate comes with a 3.0L Duromax Turbo Diesel engine, but you can also upgrade to the 6.2L V8 for about $1,000. This truck also comes with 4-wheel drive by default. The bumper is color-matched, so it blends in with the rest of the vehicle. The fender trim pieces come in black, but you can upgrade to color-matched.
All 2023 Denali Ultimates come with 22-inch wheels and automatic fold-down running boards. All the lights are LED, and the front has some interesting accents. Around the back, you will notice the rear bumper is also color-matched with integrated exhaust tips. The truck comes with the Multi-Pro tailgate, which features a number of different fold-down options.
Moving inside, the truck is largely the same as other Sierra pickup trucks, but with better features. There are more soft-touch surfaces with brown and black leather and white piping accents. The colors work surprisingly well together, and the white and black extends to the dashboard, which includes LCD displays.
From the outside to the inside, GMC loaded the Denali Ultimate with high-end features. Subsequently, it sells at a high price of over $80,000.
4. 2023 GMC Hummer EV Pickup $84,650

Easily the most unique vehicle on our list of the most expensive trucks is the Hummer EV. You read that correctly; Hummer is back with a truck for 2023. But this isn’t the same Hummer that you remember from the early 2000s. Instead, GM decided to revive the Hummer name but sell its vehicles under the GMC brand rather than on its own.
That isn’t the only change, as the new Hummers are exclusively electric vehicles. They were redesigned from the ground up as EVs, with little resembling the original giant SUVs. Although still very large, the new Hummers have a shorter stance than their predecessors. But GM did keep some styling cues, like the lines on the mirrors and portions of the lower bumper.
The new EV Hummer comes in both a pickup truck and an SUV option. The shift to EVs is a unique idea that brings efficiency to one of the most notorious gas guzzlers. With its new EV drivetrain, the Hummer pickup can get about 330 miles on a charge. Packing 1,000 horsepower, the three electric motors give this beast a 3.3 second 0 to 60 time. The three motors provide four-wheel drive, with two of the three motors located in the front of the SUV. What really stands out is the Hummer’s crab-walking feature, which lets the rear wheels turn. The inside is very luxurious, and the glass roof panels come off to let the outside in.
The unique features of the 2023 Hummer EV pickup cost a whopping $84,650, with higher-end models slated for the coming years.
3. 2023 RAM TRX $85,050
RAM’s split from the Dodge brand over a decade ago is still a little confusing, but what isn’t confusing is the eye-popping price of the company’s new RAM TRX. This beast of a truck delivers the absolute best performance that RAM has to offer. From the outside, it looks like a standard RAM pickup truck with some added features. But it is far from a standard pickup truck, and it even has upgrades that will put it well above $100K.
The first thing you will probably notice is the louvered hood that also has a scoop. They also specially designed the front bumper for the TRX package. If the body lines look a little off, that is because they are. The TRX has wider quarter panels than a stock RAM. The interior styling will vary slightly depending on what trim package it is equipped with. For example, there are options for heated seats and options with premium materials. Even the safety system is upgradeable. The backseat area is also very spacious, with nice styling that is very rare, even in expensive pickup trucks.
What really makes the TRX stand out is its performance upgrades. There is only one engine option, which is the 6.2L HEMI, capable of 702 horsepower. The wider stance makes it ideal for rugged terrain. In addition, the suspension received a number of upgrades, like custom adjustable shocks.
Priced at over $85,000, it is a bit surprising that there are so many upcharges available.
2. 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Platinum $98,074

Another EV is Ford’s 2023 F-150 Lightning Platinum Edition, which comes with a ridiculously high price tag. Ford managed to beat other manufacturers to market with a fully-electric truck. With the popularity of trucks in America and the soaring demand for electric vehicles, it only made sense for Ford to release a fully-electric pickup.
Unlike most electric vehicles, the F-150 Lightning looks like its gas-powered counterpart. However, under the hood, it becomes clear that this isn’t your typical F-150. In fact, under the hood is a trunk where you can store cargo. This is a nice benefit since trucks do not have a dry trunk space like a car. In addition, you will also find AC power outlets to plug in household devices and even a built-in ice chest.
The charge port is located on the front quarter panel. Around the back is a tailgate with an integrated step. The bed also features more outlets, including a 240V port. The bumpers are all color-matched to the vehicle, and you will find running boards along the side. Further, the badging is surprisingly subtle, with only a “Lightning” badge along the side.
Having the Platinum trim package means this truck is well-equipped with Ford’s best features. This is very apparent in the interior, which has very nice leather seats and accents. Ford also uses a larger tablet-like screen for its controls, much like Tesla. The roof has a nice open glass design to let in natural light.
At nearly $100,000, the F-150 Lightning’s price is steep, but Ford designed this EV truck with work in mind.
1. 2023 Ford F-450 Limited $103,030

The last and most expensive truck on our list is the Ford F-450 Limited. This pickup truck combines the absolute best in power and comfort for those who need it most. This is not the kind of truck that you use for daily driving. Instead, it is built for hauling heavy loads and is typically used by commercial drivers who don’t need the full power of a semi-truck.
The Limited trim package is the highest option Ford offers and is one step above the Platinum package. If you aren’t familiar, Ford heavy-duty trucks use a different body style than their F-150. So F-250s and above utilize the bulkier and more rugged body style. Although it looks just like the F-250 and F-350, the F-450 sits on a much stronger frame with beefier suspension components.
Under the hood is a 6.7L V8 Turbo Diesel engine paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. The truck also comes stock with four-wheel drive, a Tow Technology Package, and a 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Hitch Prep Package. You can also upgrade to a heavier-duty front suspension, 360-degree cameras, and the FX4 package. The F-450 also comes stock as a dually, with two rear wheels, and has a built-in scale.
On the inside, you will notice the intricately pleated seats. These seats are also very adjustable and even feature a full layback feature so you can take a nap. The ceiling has a really attractive sunroof that goes from the front to the back. The dash is also wrapped with a beautiful covering.
This pickup truck certainly delivers the best in towing and luxury, but it isn’t for everybody with a price tag above $100K.
Driving an Expensive Pickup Truck: What It’s Like
Driving an expensive pickup truck varies greatly depending on the brand and model. All the vehicles mentioned above come with the highest trim packages offered. Meaning you will get all the best features from the respective manufacturer. However, not every brand has the same features, even between models.
Overall, an expensive truck will drive like a high-end car. The ride is very much refined with an upgraded suspension. The one exception is Ford’s F-450, which has a stiff ride because of its towing capacity. Each vehicle also has extravagant finishes on the interior that rival what is found in high-end cars. But don’t let the high-end features fool you; these expensive trucks are still designed to work hard and go off-road.
Should You Buy an Expensive Pickup Truck?
Buying one of the pickup trucks listed above is an enormous investment. Making matters worse is the fact that they are depreciating assets, so they will go down in value over time. Therefore, these are terrible choices for the average truck buyer. But that doesn’t mean these expensive vehicles don’t have space in the market.
People using trucks for business can understandably spend more than someone purchasing one as an everyday driver. Not only can business owners get tax write-offs, but the cost is relative to the amount of money it is making them. This is especially true for heavy-duty trucks like Ford’s F-450. Otherwise, you should probably consider a cheaper trim package.
