Denon AVR S760H Overview
The Denon AVR S760H is an excellent home theater receiver. Not only does it deliver an uncompromising sound browser, but it provides a wide range of inputs and outputs. More importantly, these ports act as 4K and even 8K pass-throughs, which makes them the perfect choice for gamers and movie lovers alike. It functions as an all-in-one package that can run your preexisting system or act as a good start to a new home theater.
The AVR S760H is a 7.2-channel system that features Dolby Atmos. This means you can use two speakers on the ceiling in the middle of the room in addition to the standard front, rear, and center speakers. Overall, this is a solid choice for a home theater system as it features nearly every function you could want in a home theater system.
Release date and price
The S760H was released toward the end of 2021 in select stores such as Costco and became more widely available in 2022. Supply chain constraints did slow the rollout of this receiver. Regardless, it is available in most stores now and has an MSRP of $599, but it does occasionally go on sale a bit cheaper.
Features
Like all Denon receivers, the S760H is packed with features and connections, plus it has easy setup and calibration to make getting started a breeze. In addition to HDMI and RCA audio inputs, it also has Bluetooth and WiFi for wireless connectivity. Another great feature is that it does have HDMI 2.1, so it is 8K ready.

Denon AVR S760H Review
The Denon AVR-S760H is a great choice for an entry-level home theater receiver or as an upgrade to a 7.1-channel system. The low price point makes it an excellent choice as you get nearly all of the great features from systems that cost nearly double. While there are a few missing features and inputs, it probably isn’t enough to justify getting a more expensive receiver.
Design
The first thing you will notice about the AVR-S760H is that it has the typical brushed faux-brushed aluminum finish that is found on most of the other Denon models. This is an attractive style that gives a little dimension to the otherwise flat and plastic surface.
Another thing you will notice is that all of the buttons are visible compared to the higher-end models that have a flap hiding them. The rest of the body is a black metal frame that is vented on the top to allow good airflow through the receiver.
Display and Interface
The AVR-S760H has an LED display on the front, like most other home theater receivers on the market. This tells you all of the information about the receiver and helps you navigate through the various inputs. However, the initial setup is done through a setup wizard that shows up on the TV. This is also how you access the automatic setup system, which uses the included microphone to automatically adjust audio levels.
Ports and Connectivity
Denon did a really good job of including all of the ports you need. This is a difficult balance since adding more connections increases the device’s complexity and, therefore, the price. But what is really nice is that Denon managed to get three HDMI 2.1 connections so that this receiver can handle everything you throw at it and be ready for future changes.
In addition, it also has three regular HDMI 2.0 ports that can handle 4K video. One thing is that there are only a few RCA inputs, but that is somewhat expected since few devices use them anymore. There are also two optical ports. The back of the receiver also has an ethernet port for connecting to a wired network but also has two antennas for connecting wirelessly.
The speaker output is set up for two front speakers, two middle surround speakers, two rear surround speakers, and a front center channel. The two subwoofer channels use standard subwoofer pre-out RCA connections. Noticeably missing is a set of secondary front speaker outputs that most receivers have.

H2: Denon AVR S760H: Is It a Buy?
Buy it if…
You need an affordable receiver
If you want a good receiver but don’t want to spend a fortune, then the Denon AVR-S760H is a good choice for you. It is packed full of features that will be more than enough for most people. For instance, most home theater systems are built around 5.1 channels, so this would actually give you room to grow.
Don’t buy it if…
You want the most features possible
Although the Denon AVR-S760H does have a lot of features, it is missing some of the premium options found on some of the higher-end models. If you think this doesn’t meet your needs, then it is best to hold off for a little while until you can get one of the top-tier models.
It doesn’t have enough connections.
One of the most important things to look at when choosing a receiver is that it has to have ports for all of your devices and speakers. For instance, if you have speakers for a 9-channel system, then you will need a larger receiver. Similarly, make sure it has enough HDMI, optical, and RCA ports to hook up all your devices.
