Corsair Voyager: Best Deal Today

With so many competing laptops on the market, finding the best deals can be tricky. Corsair makes it simple. You can find this laptop easily on Amazon or the official website. We’ve compiled the best sources for you below:

Corsair Voyager: Overview

Corsair started as a small company in 1994, producing components for motherboards and processors. The company slowly expanded to become the premier name in gaming peripherals. Today Corsair is a household name, at least in the gaming industry. The Corsair badge is a mark of quality and reliability on PC cases, power supplies, coolers, and memory.

Surprisingly, Corsair went for years without producing a gaming laptop. While similar companies like MSI, Gigabyte, and Asus all offered their take on the ideal gaming laptop, Corsair was always missing from the picture. Much like the Voyager space probe that shares its namesake and serves as a beacon of our civilization to the universe, the Voyager gaming laptop marks Corsair’s official entry into the highly competitive mobile gaming space

Windows 11 on a Laptop

The Voyager launched in May of 2022, perfectly in time with the end of the graphics card shortage. This way, Corsair could take full advantage of the drop in component prices to offer customers the best prices.

Currently available in four different configurations, the Voyager sells for between $2,499 and $2,849 on Corsair’s official website.

Different Models

The Voyager is available in four flavors, depending on your desires and budget. Corsair keeps it simple for buyers with only minor hardware and operating system differences. In reality, only two distinct hardware configurations are available for the Voyager.

The entry-level model offers an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Priced at $2,499, while not highly competitive, is an attractive deal considering the enhanced feature set of the laptop overall. For an additional $300, you can get the highly-upgraded model, which comes with a Ryzen 9 CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 2TB SSD.

Corsair offers each variety with Windows 11 Home, but you can get a Windows 11 Pro model for an additional $50. If you prefer more customization options, the Corsair Voyager is also available from Origin PC, one of Corsair’s subsidiaries. While it is available with the same hardware specs, you can also choose from custom lid designs, including UV prints and laser etching.

Features

The first thing you’ll notice when you swing open the lid on the Corsair Voyager is the stunning 16-inch display. While most laptops use a 16:9 aspect ratio, the Voyager uses the superior 16:10 ratio, lovingly referred to as the “Golden Ratio” by gamers. With a resolution of 2560 by 1600, the Corsair offers plenty of screen real estate for multitasking.

With a refresh rate of 240hz, the Voyager’s display is designed for the discerning gamer. Coupled with AMD FreeSync, this makes for a silky-smooth gaming experience, much like a high-end gaming monitor. Additionally, the color accuracy is superb, with an sRGB color gamut of 100%.

The Streamdeck is undoubtedly the unique selling point of the Corsair Voyager. This laptop is aimed at streamers, with an Elgato streaming deck built right in between the screen and the keyboard. This gives you an eagle-eye view of all your apps, shortcuts, and widgets. The included Elgato streaming software gives you many customization options to take full advantage of this unique feature.

While multiple Thunderbolt ports are uncommon on most AMD laptops, the Corsair Voyager provides you with two. You can easily interface with thunderbolt and USB C monitors, docks, and peripherals. Besides that, you’ll also notice a USB 3.2 port, USB Type-C, an SD card reader, and a headphone port along each side of the laptop.

Additionally, you get the latest WiFi 6 and Bluetooth standards for wireless connectivity. Corsair has included an application called Slipstream that uses built-in Bluetooth in a truly innovative way. The Corsair Slipstream feature allows you to interface wirelessly with your other Corsair peripherals. This can come in handy when you end up running out of USB ports.

Corsair Voyager: Review

Best Gaming Laptops
One of the high-end gaming laptops, the Corsair Voyager is heavy on features but light on power.

Besides providing an incredible set of cutting-edge features, the Corsair Voyager also offers a stylish design and solid build quality. Much like Corsair’s lineup of PC components and peripherals, the Voyager sports the same design choices and elements to give it a premium finish and high-end feel.

The experience only grows once you start using the trackpad and keyboard. Thanks to Corsair’s outstanding experience in mechanical keyboards, you get an incredible keyboard with precise, tactile control. It is also hard to ignore the trackpad, considering its massive size and buttery smooth finish.

Gaming laptops are known for their above-average display quality, but the sound quality is often an afterthought. With the Voyager, Corsair turned the tables with fantastic audio options. You get Dolby Atmos 360-degree spatial audio to create the most immersive gaming experience. While the sound system is designed around gaming, you’ll also notice that it sounds great for playing movies and music too.

The battery life is superb, especially for a gaming laptop. With a 99Wh lithium-ion battery, you can expect between six and eight hours of battery life, depending on usage. Thanks to the integrated USB-C charging, you can also charge this laptop via any travel adapter or USB Type-C power brick.

While not a heavy laptop, considering the screen size and specs, the Corsair Voyager still weighs in at around five pounds, or 2.4kg. Compared to similar gaming laptops, this is portable enough to carry around all day without breaking your back.

Corsair Voyager: Gaming Performance

Upon booting the Voyager, you’ll be greeted with an astonishingly quick start time, thanks to the NVMe solid-state drive. Coupled with your choice of a Ryzen 7 or Ryzen 9 processor, this makes for a lightning-fast computer. You won’t be left hanging with these specs.

However, for most gamers, benchmark performance is the deciding factor. With an AMD Radeon 6800M GPU, you won’t get quite the performance offered by a gaming desktop, but you can still enjoy some remarkable framerates on the latest games. Most user reports equate the 6800M to an Nvidia RTX 3070 in terms of gaming performance.

We’ve compiled benchmarks from across the web to determine how the Corsair Voyager performs on the most popular gaming titles. Have a look at the table below to see the average frame rates for games running at 1440p resolution on high settings. Keep in mind these benchmarks were compiled using the upgraded model’s specs.

Corsair Voyager: Pros and Cons

  • Loads of features
  • Streaming options
  • Customizable

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • Average specs

Corsair Voyager: Is It a Buy?

The biggest stumbling block with the Corsair Voyager is the price. While you can find laptops with higher specs for less money, the Voyager offers unique features, making the price worth it for a specific audience.

Buy it if…

You are a streaming enthusiast who enjoys having a stylish, premium laptop. Corsair’s efforts to include the latest streaming features and customization options makes the Voyager is ideal for streaming. The Elgato Streamdeck, coupled with a 1080p webcam, makes this an ideal laptop for the streamer.

Additionally, you get all of Corsair’s premium build quality and connectivity that comes with it. If you already own Corsair peripherals, you’ll easily be able to interface with compatible devices using the included Slipstream software wirelessly.

Don’t buy it if…

You want a basic laptop for school or to save money. The Corsair Voyager is not cheap; frankly, its price is not competitive based on performance alone. If you aren’t into streaming and only find yourself playing older games, you could easily settle for a less expensive laptop.

That being said, the Corsair Voyager genuinely offers high-performance specs and features for gamers and streamers. If you only use your laptop for web browsing and basic use around the house, you could be better off with a cheaper laptop.
